1. A company has two plants to manufacture scooters. Plant I manufactures 80%of

scooters and plant II manufactures 20%. At plant I, 85 out of 100 scooters are rated

Standard Quality. At plant II, only 65 out of 100 scooters are rated Standard Quality.

What is the probability that scooter came from plant II if it is known that the scooter

is of Standard Quality?

2. Why is it necessary to analyze time series data? Discuss various components of time

series.

3. A commodity is produced by using 3 units of labour and 2 units of capital. The total

cost of comes to Rs.62. If the commodity is produced by using 4 units of labour and

1unit of capital, the cost comes to Rs.56. what is the cost per unit of labour and

capital?

4. A factory has two machines P and Q, both of which produce two articles A and B. P

makes 5 pieces of A and 8 pieces of B per day and Q makes 7 pieces of A and 6

pieces of B per day. If the products from P are sold for Rs. 340 and those from Q are

sold for Rs. 320, find the selling price of each article of A and B.

5. In a certain distribution, the first four moments about an arbitrary point were 1, 3, 7

and 21. Test the skewness of the distribution.

1. A classroom has space for 50 students. Let x represents the number of girls and y the

number of boys, find the maximum numbers of students possible if there are at least 2

boys and 3 girls. Formulate a linear programming model and solve it graphically.

2. What are Index numbers? Discuss the types of Index numbers. An inquiry into the

budget of the middle class families of a town revealed that on an average, the

expenses on the different groups were – food 55%, rent 10%, clothing 12%, fuel 8%,

and miscellaneous 15%. The group indices for the current year as compared with a

base year were respectively 440, 160, 340, 220 and 270. Calculate the consumer price

index for the current year. Mr. Thapa was getting Rs. 440 in the base period and

Rs.660 in the current year. State how much he ought to have received as extra

allowance to maintain his former standard of living?

24. A form manufacturers two types of electrical items A and B. The profit contribution

per unit of A and B are Rs. 1600 and Rs. 2400 respectively. Both A and B make use

of two essential components, a motor and a transformer. Each unit of A requires 3

motors and 2 transformers and each unit of B requires 2 motors and 4 transformers.

The total supply of components per month is restricted to 210 motors and 300

transformers. B is an expert model requiring a voltage stabilizer, which has supply

restriction to 65 units. Formulate the above problem in a mathematical form

describing the objective and limitations of the problem. Solve the formulated problem

by graphic method with an objective of maximization of profit.
