To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I am writing a letter of recommendation for Emily Rodriquez. I’ve
seen Emily grow as a member of our swim program from a high school participant in swimming
to a multiple time Central California Swimming Junior Olympic Qualifier. I have been fortunate
enough to coach Emily on a year-round basis over the past year. During this time, Emily has
qualified in two consecutive Junior Olympics and has improved her 50-yard freestyle from 30.9
to a 28.8. This is an impressive time improvement in a 50-yard freestyle which happens to be
her specialty event. As Head Coach of the Merced Skimmers Swim Team and a coach
approaching 8 years coaching experience, I have had the opportunity to work with many special
athletes and young people. Emily stands out among all of those special people and exemplifies
the type of student athlete that any coach would love to work with. This is because she is
always coachable, team oriented, positive, and respectful to others. She has been one of the
most consistent swimmers in my program which is currently comprised of nearly 100
competitive members and roughly 200 total swimmers. Whether it is a morning or night
practice or whether the weather is hot or cold, she is consistently at practice. She always has a
great attitude, is always attentive and receptive to learning new concepts. The demonstration
of these characteristics is crucial in explaining both her maturation and overall growth as a
competitive swimmer.
Emily is currently preparing for the Central California Swimming Junior Olympics while
maintaining and excelling in her commitment to her academic courses at El Capitan High School
and its Varsity Swimming Team. Despite the amount of time Year-Round Swimming takes, Emily
has been able to balance her time and maintain the work ethic needed to excel and learn in
both swimming and academia.
Emily loves the sport of swimming and it has helped her develop the skills and discipline that
has contributed to her success. I have no doubt that Emily will be successful in whatever
endeavor she seeks in the future. I believe she has the requisite skills for success in both the
pool and classroom. She is the type of individual that would benefit any program, school, or
business entity. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Ryan Randall
