Demo Site Lab Activity 4.4.

3: Specify Assessment Attributes

Objectives
Upon the completion of this activity, the instructor will be able to:
• Specify assessment attributes
• Select specific forms of an assessment

Login to Demo Site


1. Go to the demo site at http://cisco.demo.netacad.net/
a. If a username and password have not been provided, click on Create New Training
User
b. In the User Type pull down list, select Instructor
c. In the Academy Type pull down list, select Local
d. Click the Create User button
e. The user will receive a page with a username and password. Print this page or write
down the information
f. Return to the demo site login page at http://cisco.demo.netacad.net/
2. Enter username and password and login as an instructor
3. If the user is already logged in as an Instructor, navigate back to the Instructor Home page
4. Under the section entitled Teach/manage Student Classes select the name of the class to edit.
5. Select Assessment Home under the Manage Class section.

Step 1 Activate a New Assessment


First, a new assessment must be activated from the Assessment Home page, shown in Figure [1].
Exercise
1. Click the correct link to activate a new assessment.

Step 2 Activate New Assessment 2
An instructor can either activate a single assessment or multiple assessments at the same time.
Activate a single assessment at this time.
Exercise
1. Click the appropriate place on the right to activate a single exam. Figure [2] shows an
example of activating a single exam. For this activity, activate Chapter 1 exam.
2. Select Set Logon Period to go to the next step, as shown in Figure [3].

Step 3 Set Logon Period


The instructor can specify the assessment activation period.
Figure [4] displays the selected items:
• Time zone for class
• Current date and time
The Maximum logon period of an assessment is also displayed on the screen. Setting an activation
period greater than this will result in an error message.
After setting up the logon period, the instructor may:
• Select the button Activate with Defaults to activate the assessment with default assessment
attributes or select Set Assessment Attributes to customize the assessment attributes.
• Select Cancel to cancel the activation and go back to the Select Assessment page.
Exercise
Complete the following steps to specify the logon period for the Chapter 1 assessment. Here are the
things you plan to do:
1. Have students take the Chapter 1 assessment during the last week of the current month.
2. Specify the start / end date and time of the logon period.
3. Select Set Assessment Attributes to specify additional assessment attributes.

Step 4 Set Assessment Attributes 1
On this page, the instructor may specify the editable attributes, such as:
• Available attempts
• Instructor Approval
• Specific forms may be selected
To activate the assessment using the default form attributes, select Activate with Default.
To edit form attributes, select Set Form Attributes.
To return to the Select Assessment page, select Cancel.
Available Attempts
Students can retry assessments until they reach the specified stop criteria or expend all tries,
whichever comes first.
If the available attempts are editable, the instructor may determine the number of attempts from one
to unlimited based on the value permitted by the Cisco Assessment group.
Exercise:
Number of Attempts (see Figure [5])
The default number attempts for this assessment is set to 2 attempts. Please change the setting to
permit students to have three attempts.
Use the default form attributes. Be sure to select either a form or a language before clicking on
Activate with Defaults.

When the Instructor Approval is overridable, the instructor may determine whether repeat attempts
must be authorized by the instructor after an assessment has been submitted or has expired.
Exercise
The instructor would like to require the students to obtain authorization for:
• Additional attempts
• Retake the incomplete assessment
1. Use the default form attributes to activate forms. What steps should be taken? Click the
appropriate place on the right screen.

The assessment attributes are set up. The instructor may select the forms to be activated.
Exercise
1. If the instructor wanted to activate Forms A, B, and C in English, and then change the form
attributes, what steps are required? Figure [6] shows an example of how to select multiple forms.

Step 7 Randomize Forms
To randomize the distribution of assessment forms, select Randomize Forms by Language first, as
shown in Figure [7], and then select the appropriate languages.

Exercise
1. Select the proper setting for the system to randomize the English versions of the Chapter 1
Assessment. Then, view and/or edit the form attributes.
