Scientific Research

• 220 OPP members have identified research as one of their areas


of ​activity

• The importance of research in the field of psychology is evident, with 87%


of the inquired psychologists rating the work in research as important
and relevant.

• More than 60% of the funding for research in Portugal is promoted by


the Ministry of Education and Science, through the Foundation for
Science and Technology (FCT), being the main projects’ financing
institution in Portugal, but also - still in a lesser extent - the private sector.

• In the last FCT rating report of research units, 17 research centers were
rated as Excellent and Good.

“1000 Psychologists for Disasters Intervention” Project

Considering the role of Psychologists in crisis intervention,


Portugal had the moral imperative to strenghten a working
force of trained Psychologists.

Portuguese Psychologists Order (OPP) planned and put into


action an program to train 1000 Psychologists for Disasters
Intervention.

In 2014 was created the project “1000 Psychologists for


Disasters Intervention”

Healthy Workplaces Award

An award to recognise and distinguish portuguese


organizations for their innovative and remarkable
contributions to safety, well-being and (physical and
psychological) health in the workplaces.
Partnership with EU-OSHA

• The main objectives that the Portuguese Psychological


Association committed when submitting the application as the
official partner of the EU-OSHA as a FIAP members:

• Sensitize employers, managers and employees to work


together to manage psychosocial risks and stress at work

• Mobilize psychologists in promoting healthy workplaces


through tools and training provided by us.

• Create Healthy Workplaces Award which has the patronage of


the Minister of Solidarity, Employment and Social Security.
Sensitize Employers and Employees

• We have held 12 conferences (Lisbon, Setúbal, Porto,


Maia, Faro, Ponta Delgada, Funchal)

• We have sensitized the public sector and small, medium


and large companies, to the importance of assessment of
psychosocial risks and promoting healthy workplaces.
More than a thousand companies have participated.
Sensitize Employers and Employees

• There was a clear adherence of 175 public and private


organizations.

• We have signed the protocol with the Regional Secretariat for


Health which will allow the assessment of psychosocial risks
in all hospitals and health centers of Azores.

• We have signed an agreement with the city councils of Ponta


Delgada, Oeiras, Lisbon and also Gaiaurb E.M. and
Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.
Sensitize Employers and
Employees

• At this time over 20,000 assessments of psychosocial risks


should be under ongoing process.

Mobilize Psychologists

• There was a clear participation of Psychologists in this


campaign which involved more than 500 psychologists who
further attended the conference and the presentation of
COPSOQ II.

• We have done a training in Primary Prevention to 150


Psychologists across the country.
Mobilize Psychologists

• The Portuguese Psychologists have an online access,


through their personal area, to a questionnaire
assessment of psychosocial risks (COPSOQ II).

• They are also provided with a free online assessment


report for individuals as well as groups.
Healthy Workplaces Award

We organized the Healthy Workplaces Award under the patronage of


the Portuguese Minister of Solidarity, Employment and Social
Security, but also:

• In partnership with ACT (Portuguese Work Conditions Authority)

• With the support of the social partners: CIP, CCP, CTP, CAP, UGT

• IEFP, DGS and AEP

• In partnership with the magazine “Pessoal” - Media Partner


Training in Psychosocial Risk
Prevention

• Together with the social partners, we have


established a working group for the creation of a
training platform in order to prevent the psychosocial
risks for small medium and large enterprises.
Media Impact

• The Campaign has had a strong presence in social


networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn.

• The site of the Campaign has had more than 20,000


visits.

• The social media have given a wide coverage to this


initiative (35 news published in some of the major
media such as the Correio da Manhã, Observador,
Daily News, Exame, Pessoal, RHonline, Radio
Renascença, SIC, TVI).
Main Achievements

• Thanks to this Campaign the Portuguese Psychologists and


Psychology have gained significant visibility and become
noticed.

• A large number of Companies has decided to assess the


psychosocial risks, which is the first step in primary
prevention.

• We have recovered the importance of psychologists being a


member of each Company in the field of the Occupational
Health Psychology.
Future Actions

Our current goals are to continue these initiatives


in the next 2 years trying to:

• Promote physical and mental health in the


workplace

• Prevent mental illness associated with work


2016-2017

The next Campaign will be

’”Healthy workplaces for all ages”

• Our aim is to organize conferences to employers,


managers and employees

• We intend to continue the training for Psychologists

• We will promote the Healthy Workplaces Award


EFPA

• We would like to enlarge this partnership with


EFPA members and submit an application in
order to become an Official Partner of EU-OSHA
in the next Campaign.
