ABSTRACT: This paper outlines the development of an intelligent shelter that ensure the safety of
people in case of natural catastrophes like earthquakes and tsunamis. The paper investigates the
particular event of 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami that claimed the lives of approximately
280,000 people and brings to society a new concept of shelter. The project aim to investigate the people
needs from coastal areas and to implement a sustainable solution for the communities. Our purpose is
to develop a product that has maximum efficiency in saving lives and can act like a shelter for people in
need for a period of time of 10 days.
