Sam Van Leer N Miami, FL 2018-03-14 We have been working for 5 years to restore the habitat in ACE
Preserve. Now we have funding to do 1.8 acres. Stop this now! Let's
work together to solve FIU's transit problems without victimizing
Nature & Neighborhood.

Jimmy Evans Hollywood, FL 2018-03-14 Save ACE Preserve!

Derrick Rosario Miami, FL 2018-03-14 Save the ace Preserve, from being a freeway. I’ve been living here
since 94 an enjoying walking through the preserve to see all the
wildlife that live there everyday with my dog will hate to see this
space torn up for a road.

Eddie Perez Perez North Miami, FL 2018-03-14 Stop the encroachment FIU, leave our neighborhood and Nature
Preserve alone!

Tatiana Chavez North Miami, FL 2018-03-14 I’m signing this because we need to preserve as many green places
as possible. People use presevre for running, biking, walking,
spending time with children and just taking breath of fresh air. We
need this space to keep our physical health and menthal health.

Anna L Hollywood, FL 2018-03-14 Annabella Lou

Benjamin Chiszar North Miami 2018-03-14 Because the Mangrove forest in North Miami is a national treasure
Beach, FL that nobody cares about!

Yessenia Gonzalez US 2018-03-14 I’m signing below because I live on the street and I am an FIU Alum
and no there is another alternative entrance and FIU is known to be
a Tree University

Maura Quintana Miami, FL 2018-03-14 Keep the preserve

Maria Supik Cooper City, FL 2018-03-14 Little swaths of nature need to be preserved for the enjoyment of all
and for the habitats they provide.

Christina Macaulay Cardiff, Wales; 2018-03-14 I think its important to preserve the few wild places in North Miami.
Cymru, UK And it is well used as a quiet place with great pedestrian and cycle
access

Christine Huerter Miami, FL 2018-03-14 I live on this beautiful street and I want to protect our quality of
life as well as the gorgeous nature preserve located at the end of
our street. This is where hundreds or North Miami residents go to
exercise, bike ride, walk and run!! We have been working with a
non-Profit organization to protect the mangroves and to remove
and replace non-indigenous trees. We have also worked with the
City of North Miami to put in new handicap accessible walking
bridges as well as lighting. We have a major investment in keeping
our residential street safe for our children, pets, senior citizens and
residents of all ages!!

Violeta Atseva Miami, FL 2018-03-14 Arch Creek Preserve is an oasis in the city of North Miami. Please
open a different street for your university needs. Save nature,
wildlife, peace and our quality of life!

Russell Corbett Miami, FL 2018-03-14 Because I believe FIU is trying to take the cheapest, easiest way
out and ruining a lovely, quiet neighborhood as well as the 13 acre
nature preserve where I and so many others walk and ride. I believe
they are being disingenuous in the way they’re going about this.
They say they need it for an emergency evacuation route and are
using the Parkland school massacre as a justification however, I
don’t think anyone would advise that the best thing to do in an
active shooter situation it to run across the open space to your
car and drive away. They are unwilling to discuss only using the
preserve and 135th street for as an evacuation route during an
emergency.I think they’re doing it because they’re planning a large
campus expansion which will include a hotel run by the school of
hospitality among other things and the current road can’t handle
the traffic. There are two other routes, one from 163rd street and
one through 143rd street which would not impact an existing
residential neighborhood. Also, the

jane Atchison-Nevel Miami, FL 2018-03-14 This is an incredibly important nature preserve and destroying it will
be another HUGE blow to our fragile bay front.

Kirsten Wood Miami, FL 2018-03-14 I care about the neighborhood and the nature preserve.

Yoana Toth Fort Lauderdale, 2018-03-15 I live on Arch Creek East and there is no place like the preserve, you
US have seen me post my walks, and I can tell you I am always amazed
by the beauty and the tranquility of the place. KEEP THE RESERVE
UNDEVELOPED. The land belongs to the City and it's residents. FIU,
you should be teaching students how to save the environment, not
kill it. "Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been
poisoned and the last fish has been caught, we will realize that we
cannot eat money"

Poessie Rivera Miami, FL 2018-03-15 No reason for FIU to take this piece of land that belongs to the
community! We love the quality of air, nature and health that we
have! We need to keep arch creek safe.

Elise Harris Surfside, FL 2018-03-15 Developers will stop at nothing and we NEED to preserve nature.

Evan Wexler Hollywood, FL 2018-03-15 Nature deserves to be protected.

Jack Edmondson Gainesville, US 2018-03-15 There is a lot of great preservation work being done within the park
and it will ruin the real estate value of the surrounding homes

beautiful, peaceful residential areas that are very much enjoyed and
utilized by the whole surrounding community to walk, run, cycle,
walk dogs, and just get outside and be active and enjoy the beauty
of nature.

Cecilia Somerville Miami, FL 2018-03-15 Absolutely!

Jessica Kross Fort Lauderdale, FL 2018-03-15 South Florida MUST start saving their Green Spaces. Are we going
to let the ALL fall to development? Zoning changes and Corporate
Greed? No more Pine Rocklands, no more protected Trees and now
no more protected birds in a BIRD SANCTUARY. ENOUGH. SAVE
WHAT WE HAVE LEFT! KEEP Some of South Florida NATURAL. We
are destroying our unique and beautiful habitat and losing the
threatened and endangered animals, bees, butterflies, wildlife and
birds that live there and there Only! STOP. Save the Arch Creek East

shayla walsh Miami, FL 2018-03-15 Save ACE. SHAME on FIU

Freda Bentz North Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I've resided in this neighborhood for over 30 years. It is a wonderful
area which should not be destroyed by FIU's efforts to take
whatever they want. I read an article where Mark Rosenberg said
he would not let anything stand in the way of his vision and what
is good for the people living in the community. This is not what the
City of North Miami wants to happen to their neighborhood. If he
really cared about the people in the community he would listen to
his own words. There are alternative areas that are designated as
commercial property and are more appropriate for his so called
vision for his University. Please do not allow this to happen to our
beautiful natural preserve.

Lynn Fischer Miami, FL 2018-03-15 this is a magical area - enjoyed by people of all ages and critical to
wildlife. This land must be respected and saved!

Mayedry Torres North Miami, FL 2018-03-15 - Property value will decrease - My desision to purchase a property
in this street was base on the low traffic, serenity of the street and
the amount of green space that sorounds my building. -I am a
runner and 135 St and the preserve provides exactly what I was
looking for when I was shopping for a property. - 135 St and the
preserve provides access to nature to families, pets and visitors.
-I’m a nature lover. Therefore It will be davastating to see this
beautiful space go. -The preserve provides shelter to an abundance
of Florida’s wildlife which have been threatened by the decrease of
parks and protected areas. -I am signing this peritions because I
do t support the greed of big corporations in this case FIU - I also
believe that the effort of all the people who have been involved
in the development and maintenance of this preserve should be
respected!!!-Save the Preserve!!!

Sarah Younger Boynton Beach, FL 2018-03-15 Nature deserves our support!

more of paradise...

selma sanchez Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I’m signing bc whatvthey are trying to do Isbel wrong in so many
ways! Humans are the worse that happened to the planet. I cant
stand the big corporations ruining wildlife and quiet neighborhoods
without caring. A university is supposed to educate people, what a
way to do it FIU administration!! By distroying the planet, this makes
me sick. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Kwaku James Ruskin, FL 2018-03-15 I like the trail as it is.

denise acosta Miami, FL 2018-03-15 This is part of a neighborhood where families walk and ride bike.
Where you can walk your dog in the little nature north dade county
has to offer. Its the little piece of paradise all these neighbors get to
call home. To take this away for more buildings. Find space where
you dont have to destroy nature and eco systems and habitats.

Marcella roukas north miami 2018-03-15 There is nothing more sacred and pure than nature. As an FIU
beach, FL alumni I say Shame on you FIU for attempting to rape and take
away our natural preserve and peace for the residents and nature.
This is sacred land that was once Tequesta Indian land - touching
this land in ways that are not intended will have consequences.

Jeffrey Davis North Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I grew up country living in the city my father would take me out
to the country which was only a couple miles from our house by
the Miami airport at the time of my youth . All those days are gone
now do you have to go 60 miles or so to find peace and quiet ,
except in North Miami arch creek East Park where there are foxes
, squirrels , Blue herons , ospreys , owls, and many other kinds
of birds along with manatees in the creeks. Also it's nice to have
a place where you could see children walking to school or riding
their bike , skateboard and the like . A place where people jog and
Speed walk , Best of all a place where you could just get away and

Brant Long Miami, FL 2018-03-15 This wonderful slice of nature tucked in North Miami has been a
mainstay for walkers, bikers, joggers and nature lovers. It deserves
to be saved.

Mario Lozada Miami, FL 2018-03-15 What will happen to the surrounding community next time another
storm comes through? Without the mangroves and buffer hammock
on the shore, the wind, surge and flooding will most definitely be
more severe. Just take a look at FIU's south campus to see what
a concrete monstrosity it's become and what is in store for FIU's
biscayne campus.

Isabel Restrepo Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I live in the area and understand the importance of having a green
clear of traffic living area for kids, family and animals. We don’t need
more waterfront properties (which will be the final destination). We
need to preserve nature at least a little green areas in the entire city.

Teresa Morgan Miami, FL 2018-03-15 We need more green space. They only want this land to develope it

Michael Day North Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I love to bike and walk my dog there

Martha Schoolman Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I'm signing because I am tired of FIU destroying protected natural
habitats. "Preserve"=don't build there!

Vivien Hale North Miami 2018-03-15 We have to save our beautiful Street and Environmental Preserve

Martha Vallejo Miami, FL 2018-03-15 This is one of the few last remaining green spaces in North Miami
which also guarantees life and good breathing air in our community

PATRICIA KENT MIA, FL 2018-03-15 Destroy and endanger many lives for a road?? NO!!!

Bloomy Denis US 2018-03-15 I believe that progress and development can coexist with
preservation. Our cities need wild spaces to explore our natural
environment. These spaces bring us solace, mental health, exercise
and inspiration among so many other things. Let's continue
preserving the only wild open space with free access to our ocean
and our natural environment that we have left in North Miami.

Christopher Gallo North Miami, FL 2018-03-15 I fish back there. We dont need more traffic

Claire Kovacs Miami, FL 2018-03-15 It will totally destroy a beautiful place. The congestion at the

Andrea Escobar Miami, FL 2018-03-15 Andrea Escobar

Trista Angel Miami, FL 2018-03-15 The community needs and loves this beautiful preserve. FIU can find
another way to build a second access.

Vanessa Smith Miami, FL 2018-03-15 This beautiful street is an oasis that should be preserved. This
low lying, flood prone area needs more green space, not more
pavement.

Mirta Lyman North miami, FL 2018-03-15 Gov. Scott, what FIU is trying to carry out is a travesty! It will destroy

nature habitat, home to many different kinds of animals. Please
protect our legacy to future generations and save the preserve!

destruction of this planet and by consequence ours....

Susan Blumin Miami, FL 2018-03-16 This area was declared an irrevocable nature preserve years ago.
FIU stated repeatedly that they would not ask for a road through it.
They have other options, but it will ruin the preserve AND the quiet
neighborhood next to it. FIU lies and went behind the backs of the
city and the residents.

Kattia Tober N.Miami, FL 2018-03-16 Arch Creek East Preserve is the only place in north Miami that I feel

Eddie Hernàndez Miami, FL 2018-03-16 I’m a resident of Arch Creek East. My son and I have been enjoying
the preserve for years. Walking, jogging & just admiring the
tranquility. Places like these are rapidly diminishing to construction.
This place is place is more important than another avenue.

Beth Reid Murphy, NC 2018-03-16 This needs to be left alone, stop trying to erase the past......

Nancy Swain Hollywood, FL 2018-03-16 We can’t let this happen. FIU thinks they can just take every piece of
open land no matter how it destroys the environment and wildlife

Minerva Santo-Tomas Miami, FL 2018-03-16 We own a home near the Preserve which essentially borders Oleta
Park. For many years we have enjoyed the natural wildlife that
occupies this beautiful space. Hundreds of small animals find refuge
there. It makes no sense to disseminate this fragile ecosystem just
to facilitate the encroachment of FIU upon what’s left of our natural
park preserve. Individual health and wellness are the foundation
of a Healthy community. Urban parks and gardens are an essential
solution to the ongoing challenges facing distressed communities.
Millions of dollars in funding are being directed toward preserving
these natural safe spaces. Please help us protect our precious
natural habitat and keep FIU out of our East Arch Creek Preserve.

Minerva Santo-Tomas Miami, FL 2018-03-16 *Not disseminate— DECIMATE!

are other options for campus access, obviously more expensive,
which is undoubtedly the reason President Rosenberg and the
Trustees have chosen to exploit the Parkland tragedy to again open
135th Street. If, after all, it is all about protecting students/human
lives….cost should not be an issue.Mr. Rosenberg will probably try to
associate the recent pedestrian bridge collapse as a reason as well;
Sad but there is no boundaries to his self-serving, unethical tactics.

Catherine O'Reilly Herts, England, UK 2018-03-16 We must preserve green areas and promote natural habitats for
animals and insects

Arlene Cuellar Orlando, FL 2018-03-16 North Miami does not have much green space left and FIU's project
for a new university entrance & 4-lane access road in this area will
destroy the preserve. What is more, area residents do not want the
intrusion increased traffic will create. But, more importantly, we
must strive to protect our natural treasures before they are all gone!

nadine filkova Fort Lauderdale, FL 2018-03-16 This area needs to be preserved.. It has a lot of history to it, and is
a big part of this city. Everywhere you look in North Miami there
are buildings, buildings, and more buildings... There's not going to
be nothing left if you take this land..why don't you bulldoze some
vacant buildings instead to build on??? There are plenty of them in
this town.

nadine filkova Fort Lauderdale, FL 2018-03-16 My nursery school Shady Acres was in the little house in 1963. I
don't think any area residents want that land touched.

Frank Lopez Miami, FL 2018-03-16 Save the park.

Daniel Waite Miami, FL 2018-03-16 We have such little green space left in the world. We need to stop
taking it away. FIU is my alma mater. We are moving forward, but
destroying any type of park, green space is not the solution.

necessary

Nancy Donohue North Miami, FL 2018-03-16 Our neighborhood, a gem in North Miami, will be decimated if FIU is
allowed to ruthlessly plow through. Many trees will be lost, the noise
pollution will be out of control, not to mention the air becoming
polluted because of much-increased car traffic. There are other
streets through which FIU can gain alternative access: 163rd Street
or 146th Street. Please leave 135th Street as it. Exploiting the recent
Parkland shooting as an excuse to destroy our neighborhood is a
disgrace.

wilson santos miami beach, FL 2018-03-16 Let’s preserve the nature

Cheryl Perez Hialeah, FL 2018-03-17 It's a travesty to destroy something so beautiful and special. It's
also disingenuous to try to sneak it through on the backs of other
bills, paricularly when the vast majority of the citizens who live in

Frederica Neal Miami, FL 2018-03-17 As an FIU alumnus I am very disappointed at the lack of respect
MY university shows for the existing Arch Creek Preserve. We
have very little open space left, and it is reckless to destroy it for
what is thought to be convenience. There is no excuse for such
irresponsible planning.

heather vanheuveln Gainesville, FL 2018-03-17 This is a piece of green space that should not be lost.

Rachel Lopez Miami Beach, FL 2018-03-17 I am an FIU student who lives in the Arch Creek East community and
I would much rather have a quiet preserve I can bike through in the
mornings while enjoying nature than a busy road. Every morning
and every evening I see dozens of my neighbors also enjoying the
preserve. The value of this preserve to the community needs to be
taken in to consideration.

Jorge Lopez Lopez Miami Beach, FL 2018-03-17 The beauty of the area will be lost

Javier Cue Miami, FL 2018-03-17 I live there. If they open the street we will be inundated by traffic

children in the morning and the additional cars and traffic will be
dangerous not to mention destroy the preserve.

survived in that crazy concrete jungle down there.

Gray R. Hialeah, FL 2018-03-17 FIU should probably push pause on all projects till they figure out
the bridge catastrophe.

Evandro Sathler Niterói, Brazil 2018-03-17 Protected areas should remain as such to continue the ecological

Fatima McCain Miami, FL 2018-03-17 As a Canadian-American resident in this neighborhood, I hike and
rollerblade daily in ACE Preserve. I also walk my dog and train him
there. I see children playing in the creek daily and also family &
friends enjoying nature. To destroy the ACE Preserve will not only
be such a lost and disturbing thing to do, but also a violation to
many who enjoy being in an area where you can walk peacefully
without cars/pollution. FIU needs to keep in mind the construction
they allowed to occur at the other campus and how that collapse
bridge brought tragedy, don't do it here. WE DON'T NEED ANYMORE
CONSTRUCTION - Leave the ACE Preserve in peace.

John Roman Miami, FL 2018-03-18 This is more than just a corporate greed issue, this is a home
rule issue. Are we going to stand for big money strong arming
our legislators into submission over the rights of community and
citizens? Are we going to allow the state the right to dictate the
quality of our lives at the local level? The value of our homes?
Turn a blind eye to the safety of the elderly and children in our
neighborhoods? No. No. No. This must be fought at whatever costs.

Leonard Sperry North miami, FL 2018-03-18 To maintain one of the few natural preserves and animal habitats
that the community can enjoy and connect with each other.
Additionally to protect the community from the FIU corporation
based on their current neglect for the community and the families
that have lost loved ones from their evident disregard for the lives
and wellbeing of those in our community. Our deepest condoleces
to the families that were victims of FIU's south campus bridge
collapse. Be aware there are two bridges that FIU proposes to
develop their new entry to FIU campus through 135 st and the
nature preserve.

Peter Popejoy North Miami, FL 2018-03-20 Arch Creek East Preserve is one of the few waterfront natural
areas left in Miami Dade County. This preserve and the large
landscaped median of 135th Steet east of Biscayne Boulevard make
our neighborhood a quiet tranquil oasis in the urban sprawl of
Miami-Dade. A safe neighborhood and beautiful nature preserve
deserve to be protected saved for future generations of residents to
enjoy.

Carlos Farias Miami, FL 2018-03-20 We have enjoyed this preserve since it was opened, it is a such a
shame that FIU has resorted to such lowly move to open it up to
let cars through... Other solutions could be researched to alleviate
traffic on 151st... For instance, a big parking on Biscayne Landing
and trolleys that come by every 10 minutes or so... That could
alleviate up to 30 cars per trip!!!! THAT would be huge!

Dr. Mark Abrahams Miami, FL 2018-03-21 As a former resident of the Marina Park Apartments located at the
eastern end of NE 135th Street, I vehemently oppose the creation of
a any road, let alone a 4-lane road, through this wonderful nature
preserve and through a quiet residential neighborhood. Residents
from other locations routinely walk their dogs through this park, as
I used to do. This area was where I recovered emotionally from a
divorce, and the very location and the kindly people I met there all
helped me to re-start my life and continue to serve the North Miami
community as a crisis intervention specialist in NM Middle School.
Arch Creek East Preserve (unnamed in 1992-94) helped to preserve
my life. Please reconsider this decision to destroy it.Sincerely,Dr.

Jessica Camargo Miami, FL 2018-03-23 Please preserve this space. This is a residential area and there is
no reason why this should become a commercial route. This is
dangerous for the kids and people that walk around this area. This
is also a sacred space of beautiful nature that many people visit
to disconnect and exercise. We don’t need another road or more
construction, we need spaces like this to share in family. Please save

Kattia Tober N.Miami, FL 2018-03-24 the preserve is one of my favorite places , where I go for daily

real contact with nature, please FIU don't kill this treasure in north
Miami this is our park, our preserve, our place.

karen deleon north miami, FL 2018-03-25 I am signing because Arch Creek Preserve and the dead-end portion
of NE 135 is our neighborhood -- something that is very difficult to
crate in South Florida, especially Miami. There are other solutions
for FIU to create a second road--yes, they cost more money but
the mighty dollar should not be the deciding factor. FIU President
Rosenberg claims it is important that FIU "...do the right thing...and
to be neighborly." Well, here is your chance, President Rosenberg.
Do the right thing. Be neighborly.

Thomas Taylor Miami, FL 2018-03-25 Save the preserve!!!

Sandra Marks Miami, FL 2018-03-26 leave the preserve alone, there are other ways

Eric Hofer Budapest, Hungary 2018-03-26 While I appreciate the benefit FIU brings to our community, this
particular area has given up a great deal over the last 30 years
and shouldn't be further trampled. The school already has a direct
route from Biscayne, why does it need another that cuts away more
nature, and adds more noise pollution.

Carla Swanson North Miami, FL 2018-03-26 I walk in the preserve everyday. I also ride my bike through there.
I take my grandson and dog for walks in there. It is a beautiful and
peaceful place. We don’t need any more traffic on 135th Street.

Merritt Halem Miami, FL 2018-03-26 I live in a beautiful safe area. FIU has become as greedy here as they
did at the South Campus. Please don't let it happen to us. We have
birds, small animals , and the mango s (protected by law) t o prevent
flooding. Don't let them ruin this beautiful area where children ride
their bikes and play safely on 135th St.

Susan Blumin Miami, FL 2018-03-27 This is just plain wrong!! The residents were promised, by FIU,
that they would NEVER seek a road through there. The State if
Florida promised the residents that the Preserve was protected. Has
everyone lied?

Courtenay Wang Fort Lauderdale, FL 2018-03-27 This area cannot used and never intended to be a thoroughfare.
What little green is left is now a pathway for congestion. Stop this
silliness and using the mass killings of MSD for your greed.

Ashley Franco Miami, FL 2018-03-27 There's already a road being constructed between the Post Office
and Target, running from Biscayne toward the East, toward FIU. I
believe this road is for the new high-rises that are going up, but it
would seem like this road could easily be expanded to FIU to create
their much needed "back door" instead of destroying
our preserve. Take a look sometime. I could be wrong..

Katherine Berman Miami, FL 2018-03-27 Katherine Berman

Janay Laing North Miami, FL 2018-03-27 The Arch Creek East Preserve is one of the most peaceful, serene
and beautiful natural spots in all of Miami. It is truly the closest
you can get to wilderness just a mile from one of Florida's busiest
streets and urban areas. As an FIU and Biscayne Bay Campus
alum, I understand the desire for increased access but there are
different ways of accomplishin that. Paving over an unspoiled
nature preserve will bring in far more harm from pollution, noise
and excessive traffic than benefits overall. Please re-consider these
plans. Building a road will essentially destroy this amazing, young
preserve and degrade the quality of life for the hundreds of people
living next to it. As a socially and environmentally-conscious school, I
believe FIU stands for more than that and can find a better solution
for campus access, if it is willing to try.

Richard Edmunds Macomb, MI 2018-03-28 It’s a nice area and should remain how it is

pat Edmunds Farmington, MI 2018-03-28 Natural is best. We don’t have to ruin everything we see.
