II. Home Based Study – DAY 1 –
• Students watch the miniature biography video about Shakespeare and answer the questions that go
along with the video to prepare for class the next day.

III. In-Class Lesson Study –DAY 2


 Anticipatory Set—
 Teacher checks that student have viewed the video and answered the required questions
(5 minutes)
 Students will discuss amongst their tables about their answers and about the Shakespeare
video (5 minutes)
 Teacher leads a short discussion about the video content. Students ask Questions about
aspects of the video or content they did not understand or wish to learn more about (5-10
minutes)

IV. Purpose:
 It is important for students to understand who Shakespeare was to understand the influence he has
had on modern literature and art.

V.Lesson Presentation (Input/Output) (40 minutes)

 Activity: Stations are set up around the room for students to go to and learn more about Shakespeare
and his plays. Teacher will walk around to each of the stations to monitor progress and answer any
questions.
 Stations will include:
• Students using the computer to find places that were vital in Shakespeare’s life, such as the
Globe Theatre and his home.
• Students are able to flip through books containing Shakespeare’s plays and read them aloud to
gain a better understanding of Shakespeare’s writings.
• Students use teacher’s computer to watch short clips of Shakespeare’s plays being performed
on stage.
• Students will match index cards that answer questions. Ex.) First index card will ask the
question “What was the name of Shakespeare’s theatre?” Students will have to find the
matching Index card that reads “The Globe.”

VII. Closure/ Conclusion/Review Learning Outcomes

PLAN FOR ASSESSMENT At the end of the lesson, Students will take a short quiz about Shakespeare’s life,
including the questions from the video as well as questions from different activities.
