HEMPADUR PRO 4560 is a modified epoxy coating available in both summer and winter
versions, designated HEMPADUR PRO 45601 and HEMPADUR PRO 45603, respectively.
HEMPADUR PRO 4560 is ideal for Both are available in a range of colours, in aluminium and MIO versions. The most

normal airless spray equipment.
Professionals select HEMPADUR PRO 4560 as their universal primer of choice because
of its superb performance in submerged areas such as ballast tanks. In addition to
its inherent resilience, HEMPADUR PRO 4560 features very low water permeability
and exceptional adhesive properties. As an industrial primer or intermediate coat,
HEMPADUR PRO 4560 is easy to apply, dries fast and performs exceptionally well, even
in the harshest conditions.

HEMPADUR PRO 45601 and HEMPADUR PRO 45603 are included in systems
prequalified to NORSOK M-501 (systems 1 and 7).

How to read the Radargram

• The Hempel Radargram mapping tool provides customers with a considerable amount of crucial information about
epoxy coatings in a straightforward, easy-to-understand form. The Radargram displays a range of important
quantitative and qualitative product performance criteria.
• The Radargram uses a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 as the highest score. An average score of around 4 should be
the minimum for an epoxy coating, unless the product has specially designed features. These are difficult to show
in a Radargram, which makes general comparisons between all types of epoxy coatings.
• The Radargram is intended as an overall indication of the characteristics and capabilities of the product. The left

owner. The right side gives an indication of the application properties, which are of prime interest for the applicator.

intermediate coating for high-performance indicates that the product is intended for dry areas.

What does aluminium pigmentation do? Coating containing
non-leafing aluminium
Aluminium in coatings can either be leafing or non-leafing. Leafing
pigments. The
aluminium pigments are normally used in low-solids topcoats applied aluminium pigments
in thin coats by air spray (e.g. car paint). Leafing aluminium pigments are distributed
“float” to the surface of the coating during drying and settle in the throughout the entire

upper layers of the film. This imparts the paint film with a very shiny
metallic look.

“float” to the
STEEL surface.

Non-leafing aluminium pigments are normally used in

highly thixotropic primers applied by airless spray. These
pigments are evenly distributed throughout the entire
film thickness, which gives the paint film a grey look. In
aluminium coatings, penetration is hindered by the fact
that the penetrants (e.g. water, oxygen, ions) must work
their way around each aluminium flake.

Lamellar overlapping aluminium pigments

The non-leafing aluminium pigments used in HEMPADUR PRO
4560 provide an increased lamellar effect by overlapping each
other. This reduces water, oxygen and ions permeability of the coating
applied on both new as well as old steel.

Aluminium flakes reduce the permeability.

Water, oxygen and ions have to find a path
around the pigments to reach the substrate.
