COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces students to recent edition of Autodesk AutoCAD drafting software.
Students will develop skills in order to apply computer generated drawings to Architectural
Technology in general and to other con-current design work. Simple architectural layouts and
details will be produced in this course.

As mandated by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities essential employability

COURSE OUTCOMES:

At the successful completion of the course, the student will have demonstrated ability to:

1. Use properly recent AutoCAD software interface in architectural applications.


2. Understand concept of units, measurements and full scale drafting in CAD software.
3. Produce accurate CAD line drawings based on provided sketches.
4. Prepare CAD drawing environment to suit architectural applications.
5. Create line types, layers and colors used for architectural presentation and working drawings.
6. Organize computer CAD drawing files and libraries.
7. Format text and dimension styles used in architectural projects.
8. Add text and dimensional information to architectural drawings.
9. Create block objects within CAD drawing file.
10. Draft simple building floor plan and elevations using AutoCAD

DELIVERY METHODS:

The instructional methods of this course are comprised of : lecture-demonstrations, in – class review of CAD work
examples by others, in – class CAD work and extensive testing, and con-current studio/lab-work.

3. Imperial scale ruler (scales 3/32” = 1’ to 3”=1’) and metric ruler
4. Red and yellow pen for marking drawings
