Spring 2018
Lesson Unit 1
TEKS:
5.5A Classify matter based on physical properties, including mass, magnetism, physical state (solid,
liquid, and gas), relative density (sinking and floating), solubility in water, and the ability to conduct or
insulate thermal energy or electric energy;
5.5B Identify the boiling and freezing/melting points of water on the Celsius scale.
• Observe water changing between various stages and clarify main parts in this procedure.
• Recognize the boiling, melting and freezing causes of water on the Celsius scale and utilize this
data to decide water's qualities at a given temperature.
• Discover that the physical properties do not change while in others cases may experience a
material change.
Lesson Unit 2
TEKS:
5.9C Predict the effects of changes in ecosystems caused by living organisms, including humans, such as
the overpopulation of grazers or the building of highways.
Learn how organisms meet their needs in the ecosystem for survival. They will learn if there are many
sources, the number of organisms can rapidly grow. They will see what can happen when the ecosystem
is overpopulated. Students will try a cause of environmental change.
3
Lesson Plan Unit Overview
Lesson Unit 3
TEKS:
5.7 A Students will explore the processes that lead to the formation of sedimentary rocks and fossil
fuels.
Study the process and time involved in the formation of fossil fuels.
Lesson Unit 4
TEKS:
5.7 C Identify alternative energy resources such as wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biofuels.
Lesson Unit 5
Topic: Interdependency
4
Lesson Plan Unit Overview
TEKS:
5.9 A Observe the way organisms live and survive in their ecosystem by interacting with the living and
non-living elements.
Study the correlation between living and nonliving organisms within an ecosystem.
Predict the effects of changes or any harm to an ecosystem caused by humans.
