INTRODUCTION: ROSIE PROJECT BY ELEPHANT ROSE FOUNDATION AND MAMOYO FOUNDATION

Dear Madams & Sirs,

Time for Zimbabwe to remain a country of which we are proud of as Zimbabwean citizens and residents.
We are being bold and taking pride in our beloved country which is able to sustain itself and its people with
a little help and faith in ourselves. With this forefront in our minds, it’s time to take on projects of Africa, for
Africa and by Africa.

The Elephant Rose Foundation Trust was formed several years ago. Geared to spearhead commercially
viable environmental, tourism and wildlife projects. Providing employment to the youth and education to the
young. The current aim is to raise money for children's environmental education, anti-poaching,
environmental and tourism initiatives. Enabling and empowering Zimbabweans to respect, appreciate and
benefit from their environment and wildlife while sustaining it.

To this end Janet Kaschula, The founder of the Elephant Rose Foundation Trust and recently, in
collaboration with Cynthia Marunda, The founder of Mamoyo Foundation - Women and Youth Initiative,
have embarked on the Rosie Project. Beginning with the introduction of the children's book “Rosie The
African elephant”. The journey of a young African elephant whose life, that of her animal and human friends
is affected by various environmental and poaching issues.

The book had its inaugural promotion at World Tourism with the support of The Ministry of Tourism and The
Ministry of Environment at Victoria Falls. This was followed by short story books, colouring books together
with elephant Rosie toys. At present an animated promo for a children's television series, to address
environmental challenges, and a script for a 99 minute full feature movie utilising the vast potential talents in
the arts and culture world in Zimbabwe are in the process of completion.

Governmental, non governmental, environmental agencies, individuals and corporates on the ground in
education, wildlife conservation, rural & tourism development require adequate funding as well as support.
We are aligning with these crucial objectives and initiatives. We can only achieve aims and goals with the
co-operation of rural and urban communities and the ability to reach the young new generation who will
inherit the future and need to understand Zimbabwe’s and the continents values and obligations for their
preservation. We must become the pride of Africa!

An endorsement on the project attached and a letter of support from your organisation would enable us to
begin a mutually beneficial alliance that will lead to successfully raise awareness, funds, sponsorships and
momentum through our campaigns. Along with that we would be thankful for information regarding your
current and future programs that we may collaborate on or we may assist in various ways.

Sincerely yours,

Janet Kaschula for- Elephant Rose Foundation In collaboration with

THE ROSIE PROJECT - SUMMARY
BY ELEPHANT ROSE FOUNDATION + MAMOYO FOUNDATION- WOMEN & YOUTH FOUNDATION
Objective - With the realisation that aid agencies are saturated by applications for funding for one project or
another and with worldwide problems, Aid agencies are pushed to provide continuing help.

In Africa, there is a lack of resources for the education of many children and adults on vital issues such as
sustainability, climate change, wildlife, tourism, environmental awareness and conservation. Lack of
resources for mostly in rural areas and high density areas of the continent’s towns and cities leaves the next
generation ill equipped for the world they inherit. Our objective in commencing The Rosie Project is to
challenge and provide solutions in the following matters
• Environmental and tourism education and appreciation
• Conservation, wildlife protection, climate change, water pollution, waste, desertification +
• Empowerment and education of both children and their carers
• Elevating awareness of the critical habitat challenges the world is up against
• Sustainable, empowering and enriching development
• Green living and eco friendly businesses in a perpetual and expanding financial state
• Reforestation + Pollution and poaching prevention + Habitat protection
• Community awareness and participation
• Sustainable management of natural resources
• A clean, safe and healthy environment + Celebrating nature
• Supporting an empowered society + Interaction

Goals- Aid agencies are stretched. It is vital that sustainable projects which are self funding are undertaken
to provide necessary capital to support governmental and non governmental agencies in their tasks.

Commercial ventures can be availed to do this. We aim to play our role in aiding agencies by -
• Providing the educational resources needed
• Creating avenues and platforms for progressive education
• Constructing and sustaining a well founded and readily available environmental knowledge-base
• Promoting the celebration and appreciation of a healthy environment, wildlife and natural resources.
• Making The Rosie Project and other complimenting worldwide and community based projects into
economically feasible and self-sustaining programs
• Creating programs to promote habitat education and collective empowerment through schools and
community initiatives.
• Creating volunteering an outreach programs
• Providing adequate resources to push reforestation
• Provide resources for anti-poaching initiatives

Solution- Commercially viable projects that introduce children and adults to the world of conservation,
tourism and environmental awareness in a fun magical way that is also interactive and sustainable.

“Rosie The African Elephant” is a book that was written by Janet Kaschula, Founder of Elephant Rose
Foundation Trust, it takes us through the days of an African elephant, her fellow animal and human friends
who are affected by various issues, threats and changes to their environment such poaching, water
pollution, deforestation, migration, over population, habitat loss, conflict with communities,

The children’s book “Rosie The African Elephant”, published overseas and within Zimbabwe has sold and
donated over 1000 books, 1000 Rosie toys, 500 short stories and 1000 colouring books. In other words,
the generous purchasers who have bought the books and toys have enabled the deprived children of
society to receive these free of charge. We aim to continue with this initiative. Every book or toy purchased
will provide a free one for someone less fortunate. This is how we will do it, through-
• Books
• Film

2 of 3
• Television shows, Mobile Applications and Games
• Music, Online activity websites
• Merchandise
• Camps and events
• Establishment of tree nurseries
• Community initiatives + Festivals +

Project Outline - The toys are already being sold, the book has already been published worldwide, readily
available in hard copy and on the digital sphere. A 3 minute animated trailer teaser for a proposed
educational children’s television series, a 99 minute full feature movie and an audio book are presently
being made. These commercially aim at making Rosie a household name and to introduce the children to
the world of conservation in a fun magical way while also touching on serious issues which need to be
addressed.

The project will generate income from various streams such as tv outlets, online sales, merchandise,
stationery, clothing , dolls, linen, toys, camps, events, tours, plant nurseries, community projects+
We will push forward in our quest by embarking on
• Worldwide book tours, film festivals and literature festivals
• Publicity/Awareness campaigns - Competitions, book signing, school tours +
• Fundraising campaigns for various programs
• Donations of books and toys to schools
• Donations of tablets preloaded with educational materials
• Youth environmental and tourism drive

Partnerships - Mamoyo Foundation - Women & Youth Initiative will be actively involved in empowering and
engaging their women and youth members as well as their communities in

• the manufacture & distribution of Rosie merchandise. Crafted by locals

• creation, participation & execution of festivals, camps, events, outreach programs (environmental/
tourism), film screenings
