related to the Criminal Justice field, I believe I would make a great addition to your team. I am

While working towards obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a
concentration in Criminal Justice Management and Minor in Psychology at Nichols College, I
have taken several courses that have helped me gain critical knowledge and skills on how to
excel in this field. Acquiring an internship with my local Police Department or law agency firm is
the next step in ensuring that I am properly trained and well equipped with the knowledge and
qualifications to meet the position of Staff Investigator. While taking these courses and having
hands on learning some skills that I possess are my research and analytical skills, problem
solving skills, strategic planning, tactical thinking, and communication skills, which will make me
a great asset to your team.
The Department of Mental Health program is a significant and beneficial division of

Description
The Department of Mental Health is mandated by regulation to conduct comprehensive
investigations concerning allegations of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse and neglect;
deaths; suicide attempts; thefts; incidents which are dangerous, illegal, or inhumane in nature;
and crimes, misconduct, or administrative irregularities involving DMH clients, programs,
facilities, and individuals with mental illness. The Staff Investigator conducts these
investigations throughout the Southeast area. Investigations are conducted in facilities,
programs, and other community settings for both DMH investigations and investigations which
are assigned to DMH by the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).
The Staff Investigator collects evidence, conducts interviews, and reviews documents to
determine whether dangerous, illegal, or inhumane incidents or conditions have occurred. The
investigator also conducts high-profile investigations and works with state and local law
enforcement officials, and other investigation authorities. The incumbent prepares formal
Investigation Reports for all assigned cases, and conducts and completes all investigations in
accordance with applicable regulations, procedures, and within prescribed timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree with a major in Human Services or a related area of concentration is
preferred; a Bachelor's degree with a major in Criminal Justice or a related area of
concentration, along with practical human service experience, is also preferred.
Ability to collect and analyze information through questioning individuals, conducting record
reviews, and examining documents.
Prior clinical, social service, or public safety investigation experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of the mental health service system.
Ability to exercise sound judgment.
Ability to deal professionally and effectively with others.
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
