 Artist statement

“My art is inspired by the natural world, especially animals and plants. I often explore the
theme of life, decay, rebirth or preservation in my art through these themes.

My most recent work explores the well-known open-ended question “The chicken or the
egg”. It started by contemplating the idea of priority in the cycle of life. The notion of “egg” is
also central to this project because I am fascinated by the fact that billions of organisms use
it in one form or another to preserve life itself. In this folio, I only include the oil paintings
from this collection, but I have also began experimenting with different mediums in this
project (i.e. leather, feathers and eggshells – in progress).”
