high school students. Since volleyball
is a fall sport, I knew that I wouldn’t
be able to contribute to that, but I still

coaching. For that reason, I offered
my time and services to assist with the
badminton teams in order to try and
gain an understanding of how
coaching works. The coach/teacher
was more than happy to have me be a
part of the team and indicated that it
math lesson was something that I had
to prepare more for. Luckily for me, my
overall comfort level remained during
the lesson and the stress disappeared.
The lessons and the experience went so
well though, that I have intentions to
further expand my knowledge of other
subject areas, and if given the chance,
teach other lessons in those areas. I
feel as though this will allow me to
become a more capable teacher with a
wider range of knowledge in more
areas.
While I have the plan to coach in my Ongoing March
mind, I knew that I lacked the 1/18
knowledge of coaching to be able to
jump right in. I wanted to learn exactly
what it is like to coach at a high school
level, knowing that it does differ from
general teaching. This is additional
knowledge that I wanted to gain, and I
took it upon myself to pursue this
knowledge. For the remainder of the
term, I plan on continuing to help with
badminton, and learn as much as
possible about coaching in preparation
for my future teaching that will
hopefully allow me to fully coach a
team. Pursuing new knowledge is
something that I am very comfortable
