Announcements
The John Dewey Society (JDS) invites you to their free Annual Meeting, which is on Friday, April
13, and Saturday, April 14, at the Crowne Plaza, Times Square, in the Act I and Act II rooms. The
theme for JDS conference is “Nationalism, War, and Peace.”
What are the challenges to a vibrant and healthy democratic life? In an essay late in life, “Creative
Democracy – The Task Before Us” John Dewey argued that democracy was more than a political
institution; it was a way of life - as dependent upon communication and mutuality within families,
friendships, schools, churches, workplaces, and strands of civil society as on the government. The
conference will consider anew how to reclaim democratic life and democratic education
