DESCRIBE JOB FUNTION

The company Grupo Bancolombia board of directors has seven members: the president,
vice president, and the five heads of department. Juan Carlos Mora is the president of
the company and he has vice president August Restrepo. In the Administrative
Department, Jorge Otalvaro is the vice president. In the technologist and information
department, María Calderon is the vice president. In the production Department, Jaime
Vallegas, is vice president. In the Marketing Department, Sergio Restrepo, Is the vice
president, and the consumer and housing credit department, Gonzalo Toro, is the vice
president.

 President: Juan Carlos Mora.


It´s the responsible by direct company

 Vice President: August Restrepo.


It´s the manager of five departments.
 Administrative Department: Jorge Otalvaro.
It’s the responsible of Administrative process.

 Technologist and information department: María Calderon.


It´s the responsible of technological platforms of the company.

 Production Department: Jaime Vallegas.


It´s the responsible of control in operations in the company.

 Marketing Department: Sergio Restrepo.


It´s the responsible of the advertising for the company

 The consumer and housing credit department: Gonzalo Toro.


It´s the responsible of the sell products and service.

GLOSARY

 Hired: When you are officially accepted into a new job at a company.
Example: Francisco Gomez was hired as a manager in the Grupo Bancolombia
Company.

 Employee: Person who works another in a company.


Example: Currently, I’m employee in Alpina Company.
 Employer: Person who employs another.
Example: The employer needs to pay the payroll.

 Colleagues or co-workers: Are the other employees in the company.


Example: Tomorrow, I go on a business trip whit my co-worker.

 Boss: Is the person above you who is responsible for your work.
Example: A boss directs a Company.
 Supervisor: Person directing a group in a company.
Example: The supervisor checks work of employee.

 Earn a salary: Is when you receive money regularly for your work.
Example: Today, I earn a salary $50.000 by my work.

 Pay Raise: An increase in your salary.


Example: I was obtaining pay raise the last month.
 Promotion: An increase in importance and authority.
Example: I got a promotion for manager in my company.

 Bonus: At the end of the year, some companies give an extra money for work
well done.
Example: The Company gives me a bonus for $100.000 for my work.

 Fire: The opposite of “hire”, is when your company forces you to leave your job.
Example: Juan Pérez was fired by lack serious.
 Laid off: Person to whom the labor contract is canceled.
Example: Fernanda Garzón was laid off from the Company.

 Quit (Informal): Move away from a thing that is possessed or can be achieved.
Example: Marcela quits her job at six o´clock.

 Resign (Formal): He is a person who voluntarily separates from his work.


Example: I resign in my job in January.
 Leave (Formal/ Informal): Going out of a limited space.
Example: I´m going to leave from Asia for the business trip.

 Retire: When an old person decides to stop working. In most countries, people
retire around age 65.
Example: Ana Pedraza retired from the company upon reaching the age for the
pension.
