Unit: 12 - YOU’RE SLEEPING Lesson 6: - Listening

I. OBJECTIVES:
- Students can identify people from their descriptions.
- Skill: listening.

II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS


- Vocabulary: revising old words: brush my hair, wash the car, read a book,
take photos, dance, play music.
- Structures: revision: what are they doing? They are singings.
III. TEACHING AIDS: CD track 137, black board
IV. TECHNIQUES: Pair work, Group work, Games, songs

STEPS/ TIME ACTIVITIES CONTENT

WARM UP 1. Play a mini game:


(10 minutes) - Speak out the old verb phrases from lesson 3-
5: wash the car, brush my hair, take photos,
make a cake, wear a shirt, wear a tie, have my
family by my side, how excited we are, clean
the apartment, write an invitation.
- Ask children to mine these words. If they do
wrong, catch them and ask them to go to the
board, spell one of the verbs they’re thinking
and the class will say that verb.

2.Warm up and review:


Ask children what they can remember about the
email from the previous lesson. Ask: Yes/No
questions

-Is the email about wedding party?
-Is the email about summer party?
-Is Bella singing and dancing?
- Is Bella’s family cooking?
- Does Bella like the green and white dress?
- Are the invitations yellow and red?
- Bella doesn’t like chocolate cakes.
PRESENTATION Lead-in:
(20 minutes) -Ask the students to look at the pictures, teacher
says: “We’ll guess who is in the pic”. Then T
says the name/person and students will point
them.
Aunt Lola, Bella, Mum and Dad, Bella’s
brother, Aunt Hannah.
- Ask the students to look at the exercise 1 and
identify the pictures. Play “Who’s fastest?”
Students who say firstly will get 1 point.
Pic 1: A girl is wearing a beautiful dress. It’s
white and green. LESSON 6:
Pic 2: The woman is eating a chocolate cake. Listening
She’s wearing purple shirt. Track 137/p.85
Pic 3: There are a man and a woman in this
picture. They are singing. Homework
Pic 4: The boy is eating cake. Listen audio
- Ask them to predict what they are going to track 137 again
hear. at home.
1. Listen and match
- Tell the students that they are going to hear a
recording of Bella’s next email to Hannah.
They should listen to the recording and
number the people in the order that they are
described.
- Play the recording the whole way for the
students to listen and point to the people as
they hear them described.
- Continue the recording for students to
complete their answers.
- Go through the answers with the class.
PRODUCTION Speaking page 85
(5 minutes) -Ask sts look at the pics and answer

Questions
1. What is he doing?
2. What are they doing?
3. Is she eating? Is she drinking watermelon
juice?
4. Is he smiling? Is he taking photos?
5. What’re they doing? Do you know what’re
they talking about?

Writing
Ask children to close their books. Copy the
example sentence from the Class Book onto the
board.
Invite a child to come to the front of the class to
circle the “ing” in the sentence.
• Write some of your own sentences on the
board and repeat the process, e.g. He's eating a
cake. I'm cooking the food They're sleeping.
-Ask them to do writing page 85: Read and
circle “ing”
