Dear Friend,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is an
excellency in knowing Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He brings a better,
more sure path to the person who has completely surrendered their life to Him.
Every good quality a person can possess, the Lord Jesus embodies that for us. He
is our example of how to live, the outlook we should have, and the way we should
handle situations and people.
In reading the Scriptures, I came across an account in the book of Acts. It
was after the Lord rose from the dead, and the disciples and apostles were now
developing a new lifestyle, because the Lord was gone into the heavenlies. They
started by going to the temple to pray. Drawing close to God in prayer is always a
right thing to do! He gives us wisdom and guidance when we pray. Peter and John
went up together to pray. Nothing unites believers more than praying together.
Acts 3: 2 tells us that there was a certain man who was laid daily at the gate of the
temple, begging for alms from those who entered the temple. He asked for a hand
out from Peter and John as they entered the temple. These apostles didn't ignore
the pleas of this man. If you listen closely, you can hear the calls of those who are
in distress and great need, crying out to the Lord for help.
These 2 apostles stopped everything to listen to the need. This man asked for
a handout. Acts 3:4, says, "And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John,
said, Look on us." You can see things passively, or you can look earnestly at
something. Peter's words caught this man's attention. "And he gave heed unto
them, expecting to receive something of them." There are people who will listen
if you have something to offer them. "Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I
none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
rise up and walk." We can't give people what we don't have. But such as we have
we give others. What did he do? "And he took him by the right hand, and lifted
him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength." The true
believer in Christ has something to offer the world. We can give them strength to
stand on their own two feet, through Christ Jesus. They don't want you to stand for
them, but give them a hand so they can stand on their own. We are not the Savior,
but to help someone stand with Christ is such a marvelous thing that we should be
looking everywhere to help that person stand up for Christ themselves!
The Scripture goes on to say, "And he leaping up stood, and walked, and
entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God."
He got excited because he received something he could only dream of before. His
desires became a reality that day. Who says nothing good ever comes from going
to church? There is life everywhere Jesus Christ is exalted! This man desired all
his life to enter the temple. That's why he requested to be laid at the gate called
"Beautiful." He was lame and could only go so far. But healed, he could enter all
the way into the house of God!
Whole neighborhoods are spiritually lame, bound up on the inside because of
past hurts, misunderstandings, sins, you name it. The reasons are as many as the
number of people who are bound. But Jesus came. And the Lord Jesus sent His
disciples as messengers of the kingdom of God, to set at liberty them that are
bruised. It's terrible to not be able to walk, or hear, or see. But it is far worse to be
spiritually blind, lame, or deaf. Are you reaching out to Jesus in your need, or have
you quit? Either He can help you or He can't. I always believed He can, but do I
want Him to do it? My cousin's daughter once told me that people often ask God
for the serenity to accept the things they cannot change, but not the courage to
change the things they can. We often stop short and limit ourselves and God. He is
limitless, able to save to the uttermost those who call upon His name. Do you
believe that? Regardless of what has happened in the past, do you believe the Lord
is able and willing to forgive you and others, and to make it possible for you to
enter heaven when it is your time to go? I believe He is not willing that any should
perish, but that all should be saved and receive everlasting life through Christ
Jesus! The Lord Jesus did everything we need to make heaven our home some day.
Your requirement and action is to accept and receive His salvation by faith. "For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans
10:13). Call on His name today. You will never regret it and you will never be the
same!
May God bless you abundantly today and always!!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
