TWS 0034 M4A2 WADING STACKS

USMC VERSION
Congratulations on purchasing one of the finer aftermarket resin conversion sets available. The kit
you are about to build was mastered by Karl Van Sweden.

Please use the following instructions as a guide as this kit is made specifically to enhance the Dragon
M4A2 Sherman (#6062). Please look over these instructions as well as the Dragon instructions to get
familiar with the assembly steps. The parts shown below are the contents of this kit. The part numbers
are stamped on the casting blocks to allow for easier location of parts. So let’s get out the superglue
and begin. Watch those fingers!!!

We recommend washing the parts in warm soapy water or a commercially available mold release
cleaner to remove any residual mold release agent. We also recommend leaving the parts on the
casting blocks until called out for. Once the part is called out for dry fit to make sure the parts fit and
align properly.

Assembly
1. First begin by assembling the Dragon kit to step 3. In step 3 DO NOT install Dragon
parts A47. Continue with the assembly of the Dragon kit through step 4.
2. Next you will want to assemble TWS parts 2 and 3. NOTE: part 3 has a F caste into it. This
side faces forward. Once installed the F will need to be sanded off. You will need to fill the joint
between the two parts as the real part is a single piece. It’s two piece in our kit to allow for
hollow casting. See figure 1.

3. Next continue to assemble per the Dragon instructions step 5 and 6. In step 6 you will
need to remove 3 bolt heads on Dragon part A48. See figure 2. Now install TWS part 6 Air
intake adaptor in lieu of Dragon parts A44/46. You will need to install two engine hatch
handles using brass wire at the location holes on the TWS part.

4. Next install TWS part 1 to the lower hull. TWS part 1 will install where Dragon parts A47
are supposed to be installed. Next attach TWS part 2/3 assembly to part 1. See figures 3 and 4.

5. Next complete the kit per the

Dragon steps

6. Now measure 5mm from both

sides of TWS part 4 (2ea) These
marks are where the attachment
latches will be installed. Now install
the exhaust stack first. After it is
installed, install two TWS parts 5 to
the front and rear of the exhaust
stack and adaptor at the 5mm mark.
Now repeat the same steps for the 1
intake stack. See figures 5 and 6.

7. Lastly you may want to install

jettison cables for the stacks. The
cables can be made from stretched
sprue or fine wire. The cables run
from the T/C’s hatch through holes
drilled (#80) in the nubs on top of
the stacks down to the attachment
latches. This is optional and up to
the modeler using his or her
2/3
references. If the jettison cables are
assembly
not to be installed then sand the
nubs off of the top of the stacks.

8. Using .010” strip you will need to measure horizontally from the upper hull to a mid
point on the exhaust stack. Once you have your piece cut you will need to attach it to the
upper hull then twist it to a vertical position and attach it to the side of the exhaust stack.
This represents the steel brace from the hull to the stack. You can add a weld bead around
the sides on the exhaust stack and two bolt heads on the hull side.

Conclusion: We hope you

enjoyed building this kit. To Fig. 6
complete this kit you will need to
cover all joints, caps, vents and any
other place where water may seep 4
into the tank, with a soupy putty
mix to represent the sealant used
for these places. I highly
recommend purchasing the U.S. 5
tech manual TM 9-2853
Preparation of Ordnance Material
for Deep Water Fording. This
manual is available from Easy1
Productions #T040. You can find
