DETAILED LESSON PLAN

Mathematics 10

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. describe and Illustrate Inscribed Angle and its Intercepted Arc,
b. determine the relationship between inscribed angle and its intercepted arc,
c. practice cooperation in doing the group activity.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Inscribed Angles and Intercepted Arc
Reference: Mathematics Learner’s Module 10 (page 161)
Mathematics Patterns and Practicalities (page 201)
Materials: Visual Aids (Graphic Organizer), Laptop and Projector

III. Procedure
A. Preparation

- Greetings
- Prayer
- Checking of Attendance
- Classroom Management

B. Review of the past lesson

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

What was our previous topic all about? The topic we discussed was about Central
angle.

So again, what is a central angle An angle whose vertex is located in the

center of the circle

Good job! Can you illustrate on the board (The student will illustrate on the board)
the central angle using the dart board
with rubber band?

Well done. Do have any question? None Ma’am.

B. Motivation

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

May I request everybody to stand and (The student will sing the Baby Shark
we are going to sing a very familiar song, Song)
the Baby shark

From our action song, what figure was

illustrated by our hands? Ma’am that our hand and finger’s form
an angle.

That’s right! Can you illustrate that angle

using this rubber band in this Dart board
by connecting the pin that forms a
chord? (The student will connect the push pin
using a rubber band)

Can you describe the relation of a circle

and an angle? The angle is inside the dart board.

How about the vertex of an angle?

The vertex of an angle is on the circle

C. Lesson Proper

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Using the figure, will you name the Angle PRM or <PRM
angle?

What have you noticed with the angle The angle is inside the circle.
and the circle?

What kind of angle is PRM? <PRM is an inscribed angle

̂ ?
Very Good! How about 𝑃𝑀
̂ is an intercepted arc of < PRM
𝑃𝑀
Based on what we have done, What do
you think our lesson for today? Our lesson for today is all about Inscribed
angle and intercepted arc.

Will you describe inscribed angle? An angle whose vertex is on a circle and
whose sides contain chords of the circle.

Very good! How about intercepted arc? An is an arc formed by inscribed angle

Well done. Here’s another example.

What is the inscribed angle in this figure? The inscribed angle is ∠ EOX.
How about its intercepted arc? ̂.
The intercepted arc is𝐸𝑋

Let us have figure 3.

Will you name the inscribed angle and

its intercepted arc? The inscribed angle is ∠ BTS and the
̂.
intercepted arc is𝐵𝑆

Very good! So did you get it class?

Yes Ma’am
Let us notice this example

From this illustration, what is the

measure of the 𝐴𝐶 ̂? ̂ is 180 °
The measure of 𝐴𝐶

How can you conclude that the measure

of that arc is 180°? Because that arc is a part of semi-circle.

̂ is 180 °, what is the

Well done! If 𝐴𝐶
measure of < ABC? The measure of < ABC is 90°

Great Job! At this point, we arrive at

theorem 1

The measure of an inscribed angle is half

the measure of its intercepted arc.

Based on that figure, what is the measure

of inscribed angle? The measure of inscribed angle is 55°

All right, here’s another example.

̂ is 70°.”
“The measure of 𝑆𝑉

Since the measure of inscribed angle is

̂?
35°, what is the measure of 𝑆𝑉

Good job! Take a look at this figure.

The measure of arc MG is 140°, so what

do you think is the measure of < MEG? The measure of <MEG is 70°.
<MLG? < MLG is 70°

Very good! We arrive at theorem 2

In which, in a circle, if two inscribed

angles intercept the same arc or
congruent arcs, then the angles are
congruent.

“Another example, if m∠ OAQ= 43°, what The measure of < OPQ is 43°
̂ ?”
is the measure of ∠OPQ and 𝑂𝑄
̂?
How about the measure of 𝑂𝑄
̂ is also 86°.
The measure of 𝑂𝑄

How can you say that the measure of

< OPQ is 43°? It is half of the measure of its intercepted
arc.
̂ is 86°? Why?
𝑂𝑄 Yes ma’am. Because those two angles are
intercept the same arc.

D. Activity

Teacher’s Activity Activity Activity Activity Activity
(Group 1) (Group 2) (Group 3) (Group 4)

Name all inscribed angle and

intercepted arc in the figure then find
the measure of each.

55°
F. Generalization

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

How can you find measure of an inscribed The measure of an inscribed angle is half the
angle? measure of its intercepted arc.

How about the intercepted arc? To solve the measure of an intercepted arc
we must multiply the measure of an angle
twice.
Very Good Class!

Now that you are fully understand our

lesson, are you ready for a quiz? Yes Ma’am.

IV. Evaluation

State if the each angle is an inscribed angle. If it is, name the angle and its intercepted arc.

1. 2.

3. 4.

C. Find the measure of the inscribed angle and intercepted arc of the given figure.

5. 6.
V. ASSIGNMENT

Quadrilateral STUV Is inscribed in center W. Find the indicated measures.

1. m ̂
𝑆𝑉 = 106°, m <SWV =

2. m ̂
𝑆𝑉𝑈 = 200°, m < STU =

3. m< SUV = 80°, m ̂

4. m < ̂
𝑆𝑇 = 75°, m ̂
𝑉𝑆 = 106° , m <TUV =
