Professional Development School Intern | Fern Hill Elementary School | West Chester, PA | August 2017 –
Present

Chosen as one of six West Chester University Early Grades Preparation majors to participate in the Professional
Development School (PDS) partnership with the West Chester Area School District. This collaborative full-time student
teaching internship occurred from August through June, in a K-4th grade elementary school setting, including
participation in all district in-service events, co-planning and co-teaching, spending three full days in the classroom in
the fall and five full days from January through June.

· Co-plans and co-teaches with mentor teacher in a full day Kindergarten classroom
· Attends IEP, trimester benchmark and weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings
· Assists with after school activities such as STEM Club and BINGO night
· Administers Student Learning Objectives (SLO’s), math DIBELS and PAST tests
· Manages math centers to differentiate instruction during math workshop in a small group of no more than six students
· Implements math lessons utilizing the Math in Focus Curriculum
· Promotes a positive learning environment for students through a belief in growth mindset and whole brain teaching
· Attends and conducts parent-teacher conferences in November and March to discuss students’ progress and behavior
