This system should be extended to several pieces of equipment. This is not planned in the coming year. The scenario of a secondary dust explosion from wood dust deposits on the building frame and ny ironment has less chance to occur since a centralized vacuum systern has been installed, The installation of automatic protection in the main electrical rooms of the facility would increase the reliability of the electrical supply. Asa first step, smoke detection connected toa constantly attended loeation has been installed inside eritieal cabinets. Budgets are not available for the installation of a protection. "Key Exposures! are those that ean most directly impact logs experience. Associated recommendations are flagged as "Key" sines they address the hazards that aro most likely to lead toa scrious loss. Certain potential hazards and conditions were evaluated at this facility. Completion of the nagement 0 P iy ipl following items will help lower both the frequency and severity of losses and minimize the Exposures possibility of costly interruptions to your business. Experience shows that the majority of all losses in this type of facility ean be prevented or Key ExD0SUTES ——ainimied by suddressing the Key Exposures, 00-02-006 Reduce explosion hazards created by the wood dust. i es See "Technical Detail” section, Key Exposure Inde FRESE Oba) Ths ape slaty foal ands Redel relish possliy of es w propery mud Wy he FM swan Secoum 1-528 nay Lindt ting oon aera Can pte fans sor conn does apy at a te (Order: 600665655:5 _aards er condtions ene under santo, Yeu must sake the devise an whether and how wkressany ean or codon “The lilly of FM Inserence Company Limited Hime to that contiond in arurance peliis Nalini ce pally coterpets reed hy reason of hierar athe inspection upon his shaved O0-02-006 The Hazard (continued) ‘Wood dust explosion hazard is one of the worse hazards that could occur at this facility. Sparks provided by a mechanical problem could ignite a dust cloud inside a cyclone resulting in an explosion, Deluge system installation would act as a quick fire contral Technical Detail a. The three cyclones "Ligne", "Conformation" and "Grader" should be fitted with an atttomatic deluge system interlocked 10 a second "fail safe" spark detection located between the spark extinguishing norzles on the feeding duct and the eyclone inlet Detection at this location should be interlocked to safely shut down the process: + Isolate the eyclones to prevent smouldering material from being conveyed into downstseam process arcas (Stop rotary aitlocks, reverse conveyor). Conveying fans or blowers should be left running to purge buming material ‘+ Initiate an automatic waterspray dehige inside the eyelones. Flush mounted, spring-loaded "pop-pet" nozzles (similar to those on the spark extinguishing system) are preferred because they are resistant to plug and do not protrude into the airflow where dried ‘material can collect or cause damage. It should make sure that water has a way to drain out ifthe cyclone and its supports eannot handle the weight of accumulated The deluge should be designed to deliver a minimum § mm/min density and should be ted by the recommended water supply b, Fiber dryer and finishing line cyclones: In addition to the existing protection, the dcluge system installed at the top of each cyclone shoukt be automatically activated with a "fail safe" detection point, insialled between the spark extinguishing nozzle and the cyclone. This is not planned, Plant Management is not favorable to ap automatic deluge system installation because they are afraid about false detcetions which can stop all the production activity 00-02-005 “Vey Exposure” Install gas or sprinkler protection in the main electrical rooms. Gs oF sprinkler protection should be insialled in the Following areas: a. Two main electrical rooms located at ground level in the Press Building ‘¢ Inside the electrical cabinets (power and command); Below the raised floor. b. Control room located at the first story in the Press Building ‘¢ Below the raised floor. © Main clectrical room located at ground level in the Boiler Building: ‘¢ Inside the electrical cabinets (power and command): «Below the raised Moor Specifications would be given under request ‘The Hazard There is no protection in these critical electrical and control rooms. A fire could happen in these areas due to an electrical prablem. If this scenario oceurs and ane of the rooms is losi, the entire facility would be stopped for three months as a minimum. Providing adequate protection Loss Estimates (USD) in the most critical equipment would limit the impairment Exposure to Loss is approximately: 1,800,000 PD 2,700,000 BI Exposure to Loss if‘ Completed is 100.000 PD approximately 100,000 BL Status Asa first step, smoke detections (VESDA) have been installed in these rooms with alarm transmitted to @ constantly attended location: The press control room. (Last Revised 30 March 2004) ‘The following should be done concerning electrical equipment: + Containment should be provided below all the transformers, «+ Transformers in the main electrical room shoud he separated with masonry walls. An alternative to this recommendation is to provide sprinkler protection above the tansformers. Details of the protection will be given under request. ‘The Hazard This will avoid spilling of the oil in case ofa leak with one transformer Containment exists under the biggest transformer of the facility with a capacity of 4 MVA (cil) This will limit propagation in case of a fire with a transformer.
