Fitness Day

Objectives:
1. At least 70% of the students will be able to verbally recall the muscle group being
worked for at least 2 different exercises.
2. At least 70% of the students will perform at least 5 of the 6 exercises with proper
technique when observed by the teacher.
3. At least 80% of the students will demonstrate safety by giving each other at least an arm
distance of space for each exercise.

Assessment of Objectives:
1. Students will be able to identify which muscle groups are being strengthened during
each exercise.
a. HOW: Students will respond verbally when asked the question about which
muscle groups are being worked.
2. Students will be able to perform the exercises for the time allotted with proper
technique.
a. HOW: Performance observation by teacher.
3. Students ability to demonstrate personal space.
a. HOW: Behavior observation by the teacher.

Equipment Needed:
• 6 Jump Ropes
• Exercise Posters
• Stopwatch
• Workspace for each exercise

Introduction: 8 Minutes
• 5 Min- Dress and Roll Call
o Students will enter the gym and get dressed. Once they leave the locker room
they will sit under the basketball hoop in their assigned spots and wait for roll to
be called.
• 3 Min- Warm-Up:
o Students will be asked to stand up and to run around the gym for two minutes.
Once they are done running, they can get a drink and then be asked to stand
along the black line for further instructions.
Body: 25 minutes
• 5 Min- Review
o Students will be given a verbal and visual demonstration on how to perform each
exercise and what muscle group each exercise works.
o Exercises: jumping jacks, jump rope, plank, push-ups, squats, rest
• Circuit: 20 min
o Instructions: The class will be broken up into 6 separate groups and be assigned
to an exercise station. During the first round, the students will perform the
exercise for 30 seconds and rest for 15 seconds while transitioning stations. The
second round the students will perform the exercise for 45 seconds and rest for
15 seconds. The third round, the students will perform the exercise for 1-minute
and have a 30 second rest. While transitioning, the students will move in a
counterclockwise rotation.
o If the students aren’t able to perform each exercise, provided modifications so
the students are still working out.
Closing: 18 min
• Stretching: 8 min
o Students will circle up around the gym with the teacher in the center of the
circle. The teacher will lead the students through a round of full body stretching.

§ Torso Stretches
• Review: 5 min
o Students will be asked again which muscle groups were worked today while
doing the circuit.
o Students will be asked to name each of the exercises that were performed that
day and be asked to describe how to perform those exercises.
• Dress Out: 5 min
o At 9:18 students will be asked to go dress out. Once they are finished dressing,
they are able to play basketball until their bell rings to go to class. Once the bell
rings the students will the basketball will put it back into the bucket and go to
class.
