Single-layer
Graphene • One-atom-thick layer of carbon atoms in an sp2 bonded,
honeycomb-shaped, 2-dimensional network
• High thermal conductivity
• High electric conductivity
• Excellent mechanical strength and flexibility
• Typically produced by vapor deposition on substrates –
challenges in cost, scale up, application flexibility

Testing
• 3 specimens were cut from each bottle.
• ~ 0.5 inches wide and 5 inches long.
• The specimens were evaluated in
accordance with ASTM D790, Procedure
B at ambient laboratory conditions of 23
± 2 °C and 50 ± 10% relative humidity
using a 50 lb. load cell.
• A span to depth ratio of 16-to-1 was
utilized with an outer fiber strain rate of
0.1 in./in./min.

Summary
• xGnP® provides multi-functional performance improvement to
thermoplastics when used as an additive in low concentrations
• Two grades of xGnP® graphene were compounded into HDPE to
produce 22 and 24% weight master batches.
• The HDPE master batches were used to successfully blow mold
bottles with varying graphene concentration.
• 11% improvement to flexural modulus was measured with xGnP®
graphene concentrations of 1%
• In addition manufacturing efficiency can be improved through
xGnP® enhancement of thermal conductivity:
– Reduce energy input required to melt plastic and tool wear
– Accelerate part cooling and reduce cycle time
