At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to sing the song with intelligible pronunciation, rhythm and

1. Play a game with the class.


I. PRE-LESSON 2. Say two words (from the textbook), according to the things in the classroom.
3. Pupils name the pictures shown
1. Write the letter a on the board and ask pupils what it sounds like.
2. Display the song chart on the board.
3. Sing or play the song (one little finger adaptation).
4. Encourage pupils to join in with the picture shown..
5. Ask pupils to tell some words in the classroom.
6. Write the words on the board in bubble map form.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT
7. Show pupils how to make a new verse using an /æ/ word.
e.g. If you’re happy and you know it say ‘apple, apple’
8. Pupils work in groups to create new verses.
9. Pupils practise in groups.
10. Help and monitor as and when necessary.
11. Invite groups to perform their verses to the class.
1. Guide pupils to make their own phonics headbands.
2. Ask pupils to draw , colour and write 2 objects with ‘a’ sound.
III. POST LESSON
3. Encourage them to draw objects from their songs.
4. If time, sing the song again while wearing their headbands.
