HIERARCHY OF
ECOLOGY
The intent was to
continue into the
site by extending
the green belt
into the site in
the form of
agricultural land
and further into
recreational
greens.
WIND FLOW
The organizational pattern of
the clusters is based on the
wind flow. By aligning the
clusters in the path of wind
flow, and funnelising the wind
energy at 3 nodal points, it is
seen that wind energy is
maximum thus creating
catchment areas for the wind
harnessing for wind energy
through micro wind turbines
placed between the bridges of
the clusters.
TRANSPORT
SYSTEM
A vehicle free site
for the housing is
proposed. There
are rickshaw
paths, connecting
the various
clusters. A fully
underground
system of parking
for the private
cars of the
residents is
proposed.
ZONING
The commercial block placed
towards the outer ring road end,
which is the most priced area in
the site, thus generating higher
revenues for the neighborhood.
The public utilities placed at the
rear end, facing a comparatively
lesser dense road, so as too be
accessible by the outsiders at
the same time not congest the
existing traffic conditions.

THE ROOT ZONE SYSTEM
• Root zone System uses ecological principles.
•The breakdown of contaminants and the treatment of
wastewater is achieved by the controlled seepage of the
waterborne pollutants through a root-zone of plants.
•Hence we propose a root zone system treatment along
the drain where the grey gets treated biologically, and
finally the treatment plant

RESTORING THE PAST…

An avenue is designed linking the main road to the
monument and filling the site by mounds and carving
shapes on either sides of the road. In this way we are
able to achieve a focus to the monument.

THE ‘GREEN FINGERS’….

WIND FUNNELS AS A GARDEN OF SENSES…

Recreational spaces have been designed under the areas of
wind turbines. Not only they act as catchment areas for the
wind but also as an airy and comfortable place. The quality of
this space is increased by providing drapes, wind chimes and a
water body that cools the breeze blowing.

THE GREEN
SPIRAL
The cluster
consists of a
continuous
spiral which
extends from
one terrace to
the other.

THE GLAZING SPIRAL

Photovoltaic Structural
Glass (Low iron
pattern Glass).
Since we have alot of
surface area on out
clusters, we intend to
generate energy
via photovoltaic
glazed panels in
south side.

THE CLUSTER
The cluster consist of rotating floor plates which
creates a variety of heights in the built and the open,
single, double and triple height terraces.

Structure
GENERATION OF WIND FARMING …
The main motive has been to harness wind as a
major source of energy as we have high rise
structures. Both the site plan and the build form
responds to harness wind energy in the best
possible way.
We have funnels between towers which have a
grid of MICRO WIND TURBINES which work
mechanically.

BY PROVIDING THESE
WINDTURBINES THE
AMOUNT OF ENERGY WE
GENERATES WILL BE
AROUND 25700 KWH/ YR.,
WHICH CAN BE USED FOR
STREET LIGHTING, WATER
PUMPING ETC.

The bridges between the clusters are spaces for

activity as well as for connection. They are terraced
and have lounge spaces for community interaction

ORIENTATION
A north south orientation is maintained to get proper
light and sun in the classrooms.

MASSING
A play of volumes creates an opportunity for multiple
terraces which can be used for a variety of functions
by different classes

SECTION
RAIN WATER HARVESTING
The section follows the contour of the site and all the water is collected underneath the oat which is the
natural catchment point.
WIND FLOW
A natural wind flow is
created by the built
mass and a pressure
differential is created by
the degree of enclosure

the back entrance.

CONCEPT
The concept of the building follows the surrounding buildings which are
based on the axial planning of lutyens delhi. The form is simplistic and
easily legible keeping in mind Gandhi’s teachings and philosophy.

The choice of material is vernacular, mud bricks and terracotta
tiles are used.
A central open space is created which has an Oat and a food
court opening into it and is thus made active.

MENTAL MAPPING ALWAR

The task was to make a mental map of the city after taking a tour of the place , instead of making a plan I thought the city can be
better explained as a section with its hierarchy of levels

SPACE STUDY:
An exploration of spaces of different scale which can be defined as
formal ,informal and intimate spaces.These are studied in terms of
MOOD MODEL: volume , lines, planes boundaries and textures
This was a study of the hauz-khas monument based on the mood

HOUSE DESIGN- the focus of the design
was to understand the clients individuality and
cater to his needs. The client wanted a simple form
which does not stand out. The design has thus
been created on this basis, while also keeping in
mind the context and the climate of the site.

HOTEL DESIGN- the hotel

is situated in Alwar and the main
focus of the design has been to
create a space which fits in the urban
context and yet remains ‘modern’. A
central courtyard is at the heart of
the design in keeping with the local
context as well as climate, yet the
feel and mood remain entirely
modernistic.

Anil Laul, I learnt how to make
hollow core interlocking
blocks, and the use of
alternate materials for building
construction

I learnt various appropriate building technologies,

like ‘A’ frames, funicular shells, cube on vertex and
also gained an understanding of sustainable design,
low cost construction and slum rehabilitation. Case
studies of Jaunapur, Deepalaya etc were studied in-
depth to understand cluster planning and a new way
of looking at the vaastu shastra.
