oasis". This feature creates conflicts at social, economic and environmental
spheres as rainfed areas are devoid of water. The overall objective is to
analyze the water resources of the Mendoza River Basin, both its offer in the
form of snow and ice bodies, as their demand in order to generate proposals
for improving the integrated management.
This study presents an analysis of Landsat images, which estimates the area
of snow in the winter months, applying the Normalized Difference Snow Index
(NDSI). The trend is positive in 10 years analyzed, meaning an increase in
the snows.
Linear correlations were made between snowpack, water snow equivalent,
the flow in the summer months and the annual volume (Hm3) presenting
Pearson coefficients of between 0.63 and 0.25. The reliability of these tests is
between 95 and 80%. Nonparametric analysis (Spearman and Kendall) had
low correlations. In this case, it would need to include more data or another
variables for explain the river flow through the snow surface.
With respect to demand and water resource management, the main plot of
the basin was done with AQUATOOL and made an analysis of the main
variables. Deficits in the agrarian demands imply the need for allocations from
other sources and improvements in management. There are significant
correlations between river flow, water snow equivalent and supplies
OPTIGES obtained, indicating the dependence of the water generated by the
system and the water used.
At the institutional level, some conflicts with the information gaps, overlap,
and lack of management of depressed areas (rainfed) could be solved by
more efficient and equitable distribution of water, leaving future research to
help us understand the dynamics of water resources and development of new
management strategies that would meet the demand requirements throughout
the basin.

Normalized Difference Snow Index (NDSI).
Anàlisi no paramètrics (Kendall i
