Using the data compiled from the entire class, record the following information:

The total number of candies in the sample = ________60___

Proportion 940 968 994 969 1000

Throughout this entire project, use decimals rounded to three places for all of your proportions. Do
not use percents.

The total number of candies in your own single 2.17-ounce bag of Skittles = _____60__

The total number of bags in the sample collected by the entire class = ___76_____

The total number of candies in the sample collected by the entire class = ____4871_____

For the entire sample:

̅ = ____974.2___ (the mean number of candies per bag rounded to 1 decimal place)

s = ____23.94___ (the std. deviation of the number of candies per bag rounded to two decimal places)

5- number summary: (round to one decimal place where necessary)

Fill in the appropriate values on this page and keep it handy as you do your calculations.

Quick Reference for Confidence Intervals

For the interval estimate of the proportion of yellow candies:

n = __75___ x = _13.067____ ̂ = _____ α = ___8.558__

For the interval estimate of the mean number of candies in a bag:

n = ___75__ ̅ = ___69.067__ α = ___37.46__

For the interval estimate of the standard deviation of the number of candies in a bag:

n = __75___ s = __37.73___ α = __37.46___ = __4805____ = __413093____

Quick Reference for Hypothesis Tests

For testing the claim that 20% of Skittles are red:

n = ___14__ x = _12.5____ ̂ = __12___ α = 4.625_____

For testing the claim that the mean number of Skittles in a 2.17-oz. bag is 55:

n = ___5__ ̅ = __12.2___ α = ___3.487__

1. Write a paragraph discussing your findings about the variable “Total candies in each bag”.
Address the following in your writing: What is the shape of the distribution? Do the graphs
reflect what you expected to see? Does the overall data collected by the whole class agree with
your own data from a single bag of candies? Include the number of candies from your own bag
and the total number of bags in the class sample in your discussion.
The number of candies don't match with my bag because the whole class together adds up to
more. I expecting the amounts to almost the same as mine but they were totally different. The
total of them all is different, my bag had 60. In the whole class total was 4871.

2. In a half page, explain the difference between categorical and quantitative data. Address the
following in your writing: What types of graphs make sense and what types of graphs do not
make sense for categorical data? For quantitative data? Explain why. What types of
calculations make sense and what types of calculations do not make sense for categorical data?
For quantitative data? Explain why.
Categorical data is when you put the numbers on a graph, laying the y and x axis with number.
As well as labeling them with title. Tis can be used for this assignment when you put both my
skittles data and the whole class you can compare the two date sets with the categorical.
Quantitative data is when you are labeling a group and the percent of each of the group has.
The quantitative can be used for the whole or the amount of skittles i have. With the
quantitative we can more their 27% of yellow and we do that with rest of the colors to.
