TP Task 5 – Peer Observation

Program link: This task is associated to the guidelines of the course EPC 3903 – Practicum 3b

Objective: You will identify good teaching and learning strategies. You will note teaching strategies that your
peer used that you consider very useful and you would want to use. This strategy can deal with the use of
materials and technology, the review of prior learning, the motivation of the children, the presentation of the
materials, the appropriateness of the practice activities, classroom management strategies, timing strategies,
reviewing the lesson, general assessment of the learning. You should observe for 20 minutes.

Teaching characteristic Comments

1. Organization
Appropriate organization of content. Planning the
use of resources and materials. Teacher
preparation level.
She introduced the lesson clearly next she asked the students to go to
their groups depending on their level of thinking, then
She wrote a clear lesson plan that has specific objectives and details
about each activity in groups. She prepared all the materials in the groups
and divided the students into their appropriate groups.

2. Presentation
Clear introduction, continuity with other sessions
and students’ knowledge. Clarity of aims and
objectives. Clarity of presentation and
organization. Appropriate pace and timing.
Attempts to respond to student needs. Attitude to
students (manner, style). Summary and reference
to future work.
She introduced the lesson by modeling of how to follow steps that we
made, she used an iPad to demonstrate how to open it by specific steps.
She asked the students to think in pairs about steps that they will make
for anything they want. She used think, pair, share strategy to allow them
to think in open mind. When they are answering her questions, she gave
them time (few seconds) to think and answer it correctly. She asked them
to share their steps that they made with others by asking "who can share
their steps?" The students were effectively participated with her and
some of them tell other steps about how to open an iPad and pick a game.
Also, she demonstrated how to make a lemon juice with telling steps to
follow. She let the students share to squeals the lemons and make a
challenge between the girls and the boys to engage them and lead them to
learn how to tell steps to follow.

3. Teaching approach and aids

teaching activities. Effective use of question and
answer. Encouragement of student interaction.
Teaching in an creative ways to engage the students and to lead them to
participate while she teaching them. She asked guessing questions to
make the students excited and have fun with learning something new.
They learned how to write steps and how to follow them. That by
demonstrating how to make a lemon juice and how to open the iPad and
pick a game or an educational app. The students were participated to help
the student teacher to put the staff in the basket when she fished making
the lemon juice. She asked specific students because they already chosen
like an assistance teacher.

4. Student response
Level of participation. Level of attention and
interest. General class atmosphere.
The students were so focused on the student teacher's instructions and
they were ready to follow and apply what she want them to do. They
behaved well because the student teacher used with them classroom
strategy which called 1,2,3 eyes on me and the students reply 1,2,3 eyes
on you and when she said give me five they will reply the same. The
students were aware how to use the knife safety when the student teacher
asked them what they should do when they will cut the lemon to make
the lemon juice.

5. General observations The lesson was so creative and it has clear, simple teacher's instructions.
There were suitable activities that match with the students' level of
thinking.
