What is the Size & Cost of Plywood?

Plywood is an engineering wood product that is made from thin sheets of veneer. It
is widely used for construction purpose. It is used in making doors, furniture, light
partition wall, etc.

It is economical and capable of being produced to precise dimensions. The most


commonly manufactured and sold plywood size in India is 2449 x 1219 mm (8 x 4 ft.)

Other sizes such as 6×3 ft., 6x4ft., 7x3ft., 7x4ft., 8×3 ft. are also available.

The following table shows list of the standard plywood sizes in India in square feet
as well as the corresponding value in mm.

The thickness of plywood depends on the type of plywood. The following table
shows the thickness range available for the various grades of plywood.

MR Grade 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 15, 18, 21, 25

BWR Grade 4, 6, 9, 12, 16, 19, 25

Shuttering Plywood 6, 12, 15, 18, 21, 25

Blockboards 19, 25

The cost of plywood varies, depending on its type and thickness. The list shows a
general price range of the different types of plywood;

Commercial Ply Rs.40/sq. ft. – Rs.189/sq. ft.

Marine Ply Rs.53/sq. ft. – Rs.244/sq. ft.

Fire Safe Ply Rs.55/sq. ft. – Rs.261/sq. ft.


BWR PF Ply Rs.47/sq. ft. – Rs.267/sq. ft.

Shuttering Ply Rs.55/sq. ft. – Rs.255/sq. ft.

Architectural Ply Rs.58/sq. ft. – Rs.336/sq. ft.

Flexible Ply Rs.48/sq. ft. – Rs.138/sq. ft.

*Note:

As shown in the above table, the lowest price depicts the price of minimum
thickness of ply whereas the highest price depicts the price of the maximum
thickness of ply available in the same type.
