STORIES
JUMBO THE ELEPHANT
Jumbo was an elephant. One-day Jumbo went
for a walk. He walked slowly plod, plod, and
plod. Jumbo walked to the river. He saw a
little girl crying. He asked, “why are you
crying?” “My bucket broke,” cried the little girl.” I can’t take
water to my house”. Jumbo looked at the bucket which had a big
hole in it.” Don’t worry” said Jumbo. “I will help you”. Jumbo
went to the river. He put his long trunk in the water and filled it
with water. “Look,” said Jumbo,” my trunk is full of water. I will
bring the water to your house.” Jumbo went to the little girl’s
house. There she found another bucket. Jumbo filled the bucket
with water. The little girl was very happy. “Thank you. Jumbo”
she said. Moral: Always help others.

CHINTU AND THE VENDOR

Chintu was a very clever and bold boy. Once he

bought berries from a vendor. The vendor gave
berries less in weight. As Chintu was watchful, the
vendor could not cheat him. The boy quickly pointed out, “Why
are you giving me less berries?”
The vendor cunningly said, “Because the less will be easier for
you to carry”. Chintu quickly put some money in the vendor’s
hand and walked away. The vendor counted the money and found
it less. So he called Chintu back and said, “you gave me less
money”. Chintu sharply replied “Isn’t it easy to count, sir?”

Moral: Tit for tat.

THE LION AND THE BEE
One day a lion was taking a nap. A bee came flying
around his head, Buzzzzz…..
“Go away before I crush you under my paw,” the
lion roared. You may be the king of the jungle. I am
not afraid of you. Come let’s fight and see who wins. The lion
agreed.
The bee bit him on his nose and ears again and again.
To kill the bee the lion clawed himself with his sharp nails.
“Stop! Stop! Cried the lion. You win!”
The bee buzzed away with joy after winning.

Moral : Never judge your enemies strength by his size.

FIGHT ALWAYS GIVES BAD RESULT

One day, two friends, while walking along the road saw a nice
rope lying by its side. Both wanted to have it and started fighting
for it.
One held it from one end and the other from teh other end. They
started pulling the rope. Suddenly, the rope broke off from the
middle. One of them fell in mud and the other in a drain.
A passerby, who was watching all this, went to them and said,
“Fighting for a thing always gives bad results.” The friends felt
ashamed of their deed.

Moral : Think twice before you act.
