Black dress with red:

Yarn: Black - 100% cotton 8/4,

red - Lustre or metallic yarn
2 mm, 2 ½ mm and 3 mm knitting needles

Start at the bottom:

Cast on 50 sts with red, 3 mm knitting needles, and work:
Row 1: K 18, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st purl, P 17
Row 2: K 18, slip 1 st knit, K 31
Row 3: P 31, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st knit, K 30
Row 4: P 50
Repeat rows 1 - 4, three additional times.

Place the piece aside and work the next part:

Cast on 50 sts with black, 3 mm knitting needles, and work:

Row 1: K 18, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st purl, P 17
Row 2: K 18, slip 1 st knit, K 31
Row 3: P 31, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st knit, K 30
Row 4: P 50
Repeat rows 1 - 4, one additional time.

Change to 2 ½ mm knitting needles and work both pieces

together:
Place the black part on top of the red,
take a stitch from each needle and knit the parts together
with black.

Work stockinette st for 1 ½ cm.

Next row: * K 2, K 2 tog *, repeat between *-* across row,

end with K 2 = 38 sts
Continue with stockinette st until the black part measures 6
cm.

Change to 2 mm knitting needles:

On the next row: K 11, K 2 tog, K 12, K 2 tog, K 11 = 36 sts
Continue with stockinette st until the black part measures 10
cm.

Row 1: K 17, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st purl, P 16

Row 2: K 17, slip 2 sts knit, K 17
Row 3: P 17, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st knit, K 16
Row 4: P 17, slip 2 sts purl, P 17

Row 5: K 17, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st purl, P 16

Row 6: K 17, slip 2 sts knit, K 17
Row 7: P 17, turn (and work backwards), slip 1 st knit, K 16
Row 8: P 5, cast off 5 sts purl, P 7, slip 2 sts purl, P 7, cast
off 5 sts purl, P 5

Change to red:
Row 9: K 5, cast on 12 new sts, K 16, cast on 12 new sts, K 5

Cast off in knit.
