The Triple Constraints

Each project must meet the constraints set by the customer:

1. Scope and Customer Satisfaction

- Are you delivering the amount and quality you promised?
2. Cost
- Are you at or under budget?
3. Time
- Can you complete the project on time?
 Project Charter

Defines what the project entails and what each team member is
responsible for.

3. Outcomes/Deliverables 7. Team Members
4. Duration 8. Planning Information

Share it with customers and stakeholders!

A good plan helps team members...

1. Stick to a schedule
2. Hold other members accountable for their progress
3. Identify all needed resources
4. Manage resources, labor, and time
5. Determine when the project is done

SCHEDULING

● Use working days as a unit of time (don’t include weekends and holidays)
● Break large, time consuming tasks into small, more measurable ones
● Include full time needed, not just the main task!
ex.) it may only take one hour to construct a robot, but it may take a week to order parts
● Start Date- End Date= Duration of Task

* note that the first time you do something, it will take much longer than intended
