To Whom It May Concern:

As the AP English Literature and Composition teacher at Merced High School, I have had the privilege of
having Star Kail as one of my students. I have known Star since the beginning of the school year and I
have witnessed her ambition and desire to succeed in her classes. She has proven herself to be a
dedicated student and a leader in the classroom. It is with much pleasure that I write this letter of
recommendation on her behalf.

I have seen Star interact with other students in a positive manner. She has always seemed willing to
listen, learn, and try her best at any task put before her. She is passionate about life and learning. I have
been lucky enough to get to know Star and witness first-hand what a thoughtful, respectful, and
responsible young lady she is.

Academically, Star has shown continued growth and outstanding effort in the classroom. She is an
independent worker and thinker. She never hesitates to participate in class discussions. She offers insight
to our readings and analysis of a text. I have always appreciated her willingness to interact with the class
and in small groups. Star has continued to challenge herself by enrolling in Advanced Placement and
Honors courses throughout her years at Merced High. In addition to her hard work in the classroom, Star
has dedicated time to clubs and organizations as well. She has been involved with the Merced High
School Choir as well as our varsity swim team. Through her involvement in and outside of school, she
has received numerous awards and honors. In addition to her commitment to extra-curricular activities on
campus, she has been actively giving back to our community through community service. She regularly
volunteers to feed the homeless and is active with the youth group at her church. Star’s kindness,
dedication, and work ethic are impressive and prove that she is young lady of strong personal character!

Star has worked hard and succeeded at becoming a well-rounded student and person. She is a friendly,
hardworking, and diligent individual. She has set goals for her future and will undoubtedly fulfill them
with great success. Moreover, I believe she will be successful in all of her future endeavors. I highly and
enthusiastically recommend her.
