affects them. Students will then pay attention to the Smart
Notebook lesson, which will first define the lesson’s objectives.
The first slide will also have the teacher’s notes on it, as well as,
the lesson’s notes. Chosen students will then come up to the
Smart Board and interact with the various slides. The first few
slides will have mainly content, defining what media and other
important elements of media are. The students will be able to
collect more information from the slides by clicking on the
directed buttons. This way they can work independently, but
have fun doing so. Once the students have clicked all of the
directed buttons, they can also pull from their teacher’s notes
which are located on a side bar on either side of the screen. This
can be a reminder about what was just learned, and also can be
used as a check for understanding. After the few definitive
slides, the students will have slides with questions on them.
They should be able to answer the questions by clicking on what
they think is the correct answer, and a green check or red “X”
will appear. Once they have gone through a few questions, they
will reach slides with more content. They again will follow the
directions on the slides and learn how to navigate through the
information within them. After a few more definitions they will
come across a writing exercise which asks them to reflect about

how “content changed, when different stories were focused.”


The slides that come after these are more learning checks, and
by the end of this lesson the students should know what media
is, and how it can be used to reach different audiences. They
will also comprehend how various things happen in the media
and why.
