TITLE: Automated Lab Assistant

ABSTRACT:
Today’s teacher having lot of work load to manage. They have to manage the classes, Lectures,
Practical’s and many more college work. So something advance and automated system required
to handle the teacher’s work load and manage the partial work of the teacher has the need of
today’s educational system. So we have developed Automated Lab Assistant. This will handle
the practical on the behalf of teacher and give assistance to him and executes the practical’s
functioning properly.

Key Words: Lab Assistance, Practical, Teacher.

PROJECT SCOPE:
Today’s educational system requires an evolution to manage the entire process through
automation. This will gives a working window to teacher to focus on other task which will
improve the teaching quality. Hence we have developed a computerized Lab Assistance system
which will manage the practical process so smoothly. As Teacher is having the entire control of
the lab through the server computer and monitors each and every activity of the student (Client).

OBJECTIVE:
Projects main objective is to handle the lab process in computerized manner and view the
improper functionality in the lab from the students during the practical. This will reduce the
teacher’s or Lab Assistants work and gives him a advance tool which will help him to control the
lab remotely.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT:
 Windows xp or 7 and above
 MySQL Server
 JAVA

HARDWARE REQUIREMENT:

 Processor – i3
 Hard Disk – Minimum 5 GB
 Memory – 1GB RAM
SYSTEM OVERVIEW:

Project Prospective:
Lab Assistant (Admin):

System administrator is the key player in this system, Admin is responsible for managing the
unauthorized processes for the client and also manages the students as a client and view the current
executed process and if finds something wrong make the student aware by chatting with them. Admin
also has a feature to shutdown the student pc remotely; which will give admin total control of the lab.

Student (Client PC):

Student is client users of the system which will log in by his username as roll number and
password and access the client machine. Student is allow to perform only authorized task and
unauthorized tasks are automatically blocked by the Admin. If student having some issue then he
can use the function ‘Raise your Hand’. Also student can manage to chat between the lab with
Teacher as well with the student.

Project Features:
Detection

Because the information gathered by applying image processing techniques often allows
not only detecting the disease, but also estimating its severity, there are not many
methods focused only in the detection problem.

Neural networks
The algorithm does not employ any kind of segmentation. Instead, Principal Component
Analysis is applied directly to the RGB values of the pixels of a low resolution (15×15
pixels) image of the leaves.

Color analysis
Boese et al proposed a method to estimate the severity of eelgrass leaf injury, which can
be caused by desiccation, wasting disease, and micro herbivore feeding. The first step of
the algorithm is the unsupervised segmentation of the leaves into a number of classes (six
to ten).

Knowledge-based system
The aim of the work by Boissard et al. (2008) was a little different from the others
presented in this paper, as their method tries to quantify the number of whiteflies in rose
leaves as part of an early pest detection system.
USER CLASS AND CHARACTRISTICS:
Farmer: This system is build to manage the drawback of the existing traditional methods for the
crop disease identification and Farmer is client users of the system which will upload the images
in the system from his client portal by authenticate login process and retrieves the results for the
diseases and exits from the system. In this application farmer can login in the system. Upload the
infected images and retrieves the result accordingly.

Admin: A very complex System architecture used to manage the diseases knowledge base
which will help administrator to identify and response to the request which makes admin a key
player in this system, Admin is responsible for building the system knowledge base and also evaluates
the images and identify the solution with proper explanation.

ADVANTAGES:
 Farmer having easy access to the system.
 This system provides easy interface and worldwide connectivity with expert knowledge
base for the farmers which will help them to identify the right diseases and solution on
right time
 This system is Cloud base so there is no need for additional hardware or software, user
just need to login in the system and use the features as per requirements.

DISADVANTAGES:

 Raters may tire and lose concentration, thus decreasing their accuracy.
 There can be substantial inter- and intra-rater variability (subjectivity).
 There is a need to develop standard area diagrams to aide assessment.
 Training may need to be repeated to maintain quality. Raters are expensive.
 Visual rating can be destructive if samples are collected in the field for assessment later
in the laboratory.
 Raters are prone to various illusions (for example, lesion number/size and area infected).

Besides those disadvantages, it is important to consider that some crops may extend for
extremely large areas, making monitoring a challenging task

SYSTEM APPLICATION:

 This is a web base application which will implement to identify the crop diseases and
proper solution for recover that diseases.
 This application uses the Artificial Neural Network with knowledge base system and
gives great freedom to select he crop and identify the disease with solution.
