1.Business Strategy

A. Commercial Business
B. The type of business I will be starting is a recreation center/ community center.
C. Our Company’s mission is accommodate to the people of the community and help others to
see the beauty of recreation and leisure. We will provide great services and also life lessons for
the younger kids that attend our programs.
D. My Recreation center will offer numerous things to the community like food, a place to
recreate and to have fun. I️t will also provide a sense of protection. We will have summer camps,
and after school programs for youth. We will provide them, life skills they will need and small
basic things that they might be getting from home. We will not offer just to drop your kids off
and leave them, this is not a daycare.
E. What differentiates my business is that we will be catering to more of the people’s needs in
the community and not just going off a certain typical blueprint. I️t’s still about making money,
but we’ll cater to the needs of the people. I️’m trying to cater to the people more then other
recreation centers. A lot of recreation centers are just there to make money, mine won’t be like
that.
F. My legal form, will be probably be a Sole Proprietorship. I will also consider a partnership
also because I️t could probably make things a little bit more easier. I chose this because I believe
I will be doing most of the work and getting most of the funding so why not be a Sole
Proprietorship. I would consider a partnership, but I believe whoever my partner is we would
probably bump heads, because they are not going to see things my way.

2.Marketing
A. Some of the competitive advantages my business will have is first is cost. My cost will be
lower for fees, membership everything than my competitor. Another advantage I will have is that
like I️ stated earlier that I️ will be catering more to the people’s needs than my competitors also, I️t
won’t be all about the money which will make my business better.
B. The market area that I will be in is Dallas,Texas which has a population of 1.318 million. As
of 2010 the demographics of Dallas was 50.7% White, 42% is Hispanic or Latino ,25.0% Black
or African American, 0.5% Native American , 2.9% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander and 2.7% from
other races.
C. Other businesses that are similar to mine are recreation centers like Arlington Park Recreation
Center, Thurgood Marshall Recreation center in Dallas, Texas and also Kiest Recreation Center
also located in Dallas,Texas. I️ couldn’t find the fees but the start up expenses for a recreation
center usually equals up to 55,000. The advantages over my business is that these recreation
centers have been around longer then mine and they also have been in the community longer.
D. Our customer market profile is aimed towards people in low income areas and low
socioeconomic areas. Minority neighborhoods are significantly more likely than white
neighborhoods not to have recreational facilities. Low income neighborhoods also were 4.5 times
more likely not to have facilities like those of areas with high incomes. So this is why recreation
centers are needed.
F. I️m going to use Variable Cost Pricing because variable costs because with a recreation center
you have to keep certain goods and services up. You have to maintain the facility and that takes
money just pay for all the utilities and equipment.
G. My products and services is in the Introduction Stage. I say this because I️m in the beginning
stages of this business and there are other competitors around me who are more established.
H. My business will provide great customer service, we will make sure our workers are
professionally trained in that area. My employees will have great people skills. I️f u don’t meet
any of our expectations you will not be hired. We will have a system in place to make sure every
complaint will be documented so nothing will go unnoticed.
I. The forms of advertising I will be using is creating a website, social media like twitter,
Facebook and Instagram. With the way the internet is we will be reaching a younger audience
quicker. This will save money because I️t is free to post on social media. I️t costs $300-$1000
dollars to for a custom website design according to (website builder expert.com) Which won’t be
to bad.
3. Operations
A. My recreation building will be located on 8120 ERL Thornton Fwy, I️t will be a commercial
zoning area. The lot size is 39,999 square feet and the lot size is 0.918 acres. The closest fire
department is 5.5 miles away, police station 3.4 miles away. The unemployment rate in Dallas is
3.5%. I will be hiring workers who are motivated and who have experience in recreation.
B. I️ will rent because I️ believe building up a building will take too much and I️ don’t think I️ have
that much money. My business will operate year around and will provide services like summer
camps and swimming lessons for kids ages 6-16.
C. The City Of Dallas requires certain business licenses and permits for opening any type of
business. I️ didn’t find any permits pertaining to recreation businesses but I did find a Wildlife
permit that you have if you’re doing anything dealing with animals. My business will be in a
business commercial zone also.

4.Financials

Summary
I believe I will need a small business loan to start because this will cost a lot of money that I️
probably won’t have trying to start up. I️ will probably need some assistance on getting
everything up and running, so I will try my best to seek somebody with great business
knowledge. My business will be in areas with mainly low incomes and these certain areas do not
have great facilities like the richer areas, but I believe my center will be great in the long run. I️t
will probably start off shaky but I️ believe in my business knowledge, they say life’s about risks
so why not take them.
