Introduction (__min.):
Hook/Attention Grabber: We’re playing a game today!
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: What poetic devices do you already know? (comes from the game)
Expectations for Learning and Behavior: Active listening, participation, cooperation and collaboration
Transition to Body: Sort you into groups

Sort into groups:
Each corner of the room represents a different musical genre (country, hip hop/rap, pop, metal/rock/punk)
Students choose their favorite genre
Separate into 34 groups (pending attendance) trying to incorporate one student from each genre into each group
Assessments/Differentiation: Teachers can play if more students and variety are needed!
Review Rules and Expectations:
Hand out one set of lyrics per group.
Review rules and have each group repeat one of the rules while reviewing to confirm understanding.
Ask if there are any questions.
Have teams come up with names to record scores on the board.
Assessments/Differentiation: Teacher can do an example question if they don’t seem to understand.
Play Game!
Play game round by round.
Keep score on the board after each round.
Only play each song twice and show lyrics with powerpoint.
Assessments/Differentiation: Nothing. Team needs to collaborate!

Consolidation/Assessment of Learning: Winning team gets a prize! (They all do really)
