What is CII ?

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is an


association of Indian businesses which works to create
an environment conducive to the growth of industry in
the country.
CII is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and
industry-managed organization, playing a proactive role in
India's development process.
India's premier business association has over 7100
members, from the private as well as public sectors
The CII Theme for 2013-14 is Accelerating Economic
Growth through Innovation, Transformation, Inclusion
and Governance.

History
The history of CII is the story of the transformation of
a miniscule association, representing a small segment
of industry, to the premier business association of
modern India.
The journey began in 1895 when 5 engineering firms
join hands to form-
1. Engineering and Iron Trades Association (EITA)
2. Indian Engineering Association (IEA)
3. Engineering Association of India (EAI)
4. Association of Indian Engineering Industry (AIEI)
5. Confederation of Engineering Industry (CEI)
6. Confederation on Indian Industry(CII)
