As educational organisation and application
procedures differ between the full four-year
programme and the three-year programme
(research phase only), they are described
separately.

Four-year programme (study phase and

research phase):
Candidates holding a Bachelor of Science (BSc)
degree in any major subject relevant to the
Graduate School are eligible to apply for
admission. Typically, they apply during their
first year of study in the MSc CE programme at
the Study Centre CE of TU Darmstadt.
Successful candidates enter the Graduate
School CE in their second Master's year. The
whole MSc CE study is performed according to
the curriculum of the Study Centre CE. The only
difference is that accepted MSc students for the
Graduate School already start working on their
PhD project during their second MSc year,
without the need for writing a final Master's
thesis. The courses in the MSc programme are
lectures, seminars and labs. Each student
prepares and follows a detailed personalised
degree course scheme. After the study phase of
one year the student may enter the three-year
research phase if all requirements for entering
the PhD track are fulfilled.
For MSc CE students, it is possible to enter the
Graduate School at the beginning of each study
period (winter and summer semester).

Modalities for entering the MSc study

programme:
- All applications for the MSc CE study
programme from abroad have to be submitted
to the International Office of the TU Darmstadt (
http://www.tu-darmstadt.de/aaa/online_bewerbu
ng_2/o
nline_bewerbung_aaa.en.jsp [http://www.tu-dar
mstadt.de/aaa/online_bewerbung_2/online_bewe
rbung_aaa.en.jsp]
). Please observe the relevant application
deadlines and required language certificates
stated there.
- General questions concerning admission to the
TU Darmstadt may be also addressed to the
Registrar's Office, which is especially of interest
to German students.
- Additional information concerning
requirements for admission to the Master's
study programme in CE may be found at the
website of the Study Centre CE (
http://www.study.ce.tu-darmstadt.de/studium_c
e/mast
er/bererbung/ce_master_bewerbung.de.jsp [http
://www.study.ce.tu-darmstadt.de/studium_ce/ma
ster/bererbung/ce_master_bewerbung.de.jsp]
).

As not all lectures in the MSc CE study

programme are currently held in English, some
knowledge of the German language is required.
For enrolment at TU Darmstadt you will need to
provide German language certificates if you are
not a native speaker.

Three-year programme (research phase):

There is also the option to enter the PhD phase
directly for excellent candidates with a Master's
degree in any major subject relevant to the
Graduate School. In this case, there are no fixed
entrance dates. During the PhD phase, English
is the main language. The research phase is
limited to three years.

All admissions (BSc and MSc graduates) will be

examined and decided by the Board of Deans on
a case-by-case basis. Additional qualifying
requirements might be imposed for the
candidates.
To emphasise the interdisciplinarity of the CE
approach, each PhD project is supervised by two
professors from different departments of the
university.

Internships

At least one internship in cooperation partner

companies should be completed during the PhD
