1. Club: Drum Club

Description: We will be playing African hand drums called “djembes” together. We will learn
different beats, try to make good sounds, and learn to play together!

3. Club: Engineers are Everywhere!

Description: Do you like to build and engineer things? Come meet some real engineers and
architects and learn how they are working to renovate a building in downtown Durham. You
will get to design your own buildings, learn how to engineer systems in the building, and maybe
even take a trip to visit the renovation site!

Description: Training provided in helping other students check out books and locate books
using Destiny catalog. Successful library leader training will lead to being a library leader before
school, during your weekly special, and helping with the book fair.
6. Club: Odyssey of the Mind

Description: Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative
problem solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members
apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to
presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.

Description: Students will learn step dancing is a form of percussive dance in which participant’s
entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a
mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps.
