Attacked

Sikhs have been plagued by attacks on their faith throughout history, the
Mughals & Hindu Hill Chiefs tried to ethnically cleanse South Asia of Sikhs, next
came the turn of Afghan invaders who repeatedly attacked the heartbeat of
the Sikhs the Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib), traitors followed the Afghans in
the guise of Dogra Sikhs who destroyed Sikh rule, next up were the British
whom allowed Masands to convert Gurdwaras into houses of ill repute. The
result, they all failed in trying to destroy the Sikhs, the Sikhs only came back
stronger each time.

Today we have attacks on the Sikhs in a number of disguises. Sikhs need to

remain vigilant, unite and fight the wolves at our door. Controversies and anti-
Sikh pogroms, come and go, but the Khalsa’s undying spirit of rising spirits
(Chardi Kala) keeps on booming.

In August 2010, sacrilege was uncovered in Delhi – the writings of the Guru’s
and Great Sikhs, Hindu Bhagats and Muslim Saints, all contained in Gurbani
were found to be held in squalor. Squalor that humans would not live in.
Numerous Sri Guru Granth Sahibs were found and the place was littered with
Gutkas, Pothis and unbound Sri Guru Granth Sahibs.

Let us contemplate what happened here; we all watch tv, movies, soaps and
have attended funerals or have witnessed shocking events. Just imagine
entering your home one day to find your whole family spread across the house
with their limbs decapitated. Add to this scene the stench of sewers and you
may start comprehending what happened to OUR GURU IN DELHI. Some say
this dungeon of horror has been uncovered after 15 years, only Vaaheguroo
knows.
The alleged culprit that has been named for this atrocity – is Lachman (Dada)
Chela Ram, search youtube or visit www.panthic.org and you’ll surely uncover
some news about these disturbing events. But why, you may ask – Why did
this happen, how was this allowed, what can we do? My personal
interpretation of these events is that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee has sacrificed
themselves to give us a wake up call, wake up oh Sikhs of the Guru and practise
what is taught in Gurbani! Guru Sahib could have averted this tragedy – He is
all powerful, we need to learn something from it.

It is only when we practise what Guru Sahib has taught us and we fall in love
with Maharaaj that these poor excuses for human beings will never dare
commit these atrocities. We have become weak and attackable, we need to
develop the lions roar, which will only come with the Lions heart which is
nurtured through Gurbani.

This is the worst atrocity against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee in Sikh History –
nowhere have so many beloved Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee ever
been disrespected before – it is the weakness of the Sikhs, that this atrocity
has received so little media or Sikh attention. Sab Sikhan Ko Hukam Hai Guru
Maneo Granth (It is a command of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee, that all Sikhs
accept Sri Guru Granth Sahib as their Guru) – this isn’t an optional clause of the
Ardas, yet why so little attention to these events!

These cries of anguish and teachings from Guru Sahib are guided at us – the
everyday Sikhs, who are on the Guru’s path but are faltering – we have to
decide if we are going to heed the wake-up call from this event. The Khalsa on
the other hand is as strong and powerful as it was back in 1699 – but these
Khalse are a rare entity in our Panth and may Guru Sahib bless us all, with the
darshan (sight) and sangat (company) of these truly blessed and Guru Roop
Khalse (Sikhs who are the pure image of the Guru).

I hope I awaken from my slumber and roar like a lion, as do those that read this
article. Please attend the Akhand Paath Sahib that has been organised to
highlight this atrocity at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Walsall Street, Willenhall, West
Midlands, Thursday 16th September 2010 (5.30pm) – Saturday 18th September
2010 (til late).
