(e) (i)
Explanation/Penerangan:
Because oxidation takes place.
Kerana pengoksidaan berlaku.
(ii) The blue colour solution turns colourless. The copper(II) ions in the electrolytes are selectively
discharged to form copper atoms.
menjadi atom-atom kuprum.

heard. The gas is
hydrogen gas.
Satu tabung uji digunakan untuk mengumpul gas. Satu kayu uji bernyala dimasukkan dalam
tabung uji. Satu bunyi “pop” terdengar. Gas itu ialah hidrogen.
(a) Rate is a measure of how fast or how slow something is happening. In chemistry, the rate of reaction is the
speed at which reactants are converted into products through a chemical reaction.

(c) Because the concentration of the acid and the mass of the zinc decrease with time
(d) (i) Curve II: The experiment is carried out at a higher temperature or a catalyst is used.
Curve III: The experiment is carried out with a lower concentration of HCl or with a smaller mass of
zinc.
(ii) The experiment for curve (III) are carried out, using the same apparatus set-up and under the same
condition as in experiment (I). However, only the concentration of HCl is changed from 1.0 mol dm–1
to 0.5 mol dm–1. The volume of the gas is collected at regular interval by using water displacement
method.
(iii)Because the reaction uses the same volume of HCl but with half of its concentration. Therefore, the
number of moles of hydrochloric acid for curve III is half the number moles of HCl for curve I.
lengkung I.

(d) Replace the glass cup with a polystyrene cup
Gantikan cawan kaca dengan cawan polistirena
(e) Heat of displacement is the amount of heat released when one mole of metal is completely displaced from
its
solution.
(f) tin/timah
(a) The heat of neutralisation is the heat energy produced when l mol of OH– ions combine with one mole of H+
ions to form one mole of H2O.
membentuk satu mol H2O.
(c)
(d) Ethanoic acid is a weak acid. Weak acids have weak ionisation. Before neutralisation can take place, energy
is needed to break the bonds of the unionised weak acid molecules. This energy is taken from the heat of
neutralisation. Therefore the final amount of heat released is less.
Asid etanoik ialah asid lemah. Asid lemah mempunyai pengionan lemah.
(e) A copper container is a good conductor of heat. It absorbs a lot more heat. Thus, the temperature rise will
be smaller and the heat of neutralisation will be lower.
