Code the Music

Your Job:
Write a code for the song at the bottom of this page. You may write the
code using color coded notes, note names or anything else that you think
would be useful. You will switch stations with another group and they will
play your song. See if they play it correctly and if they can guess what
song it is!

Procedure:
Quietly - read your song and play it on a glockenspiel or boomwhackers
Decide how you will code your song (what strategy will you use?)
Here are some suggestions you might want to use:
● At Start….
● Set instrument to ____
● Play Note____ for ___ beats
● Play Color ____ for ___ beats
● Repeat ___ times
Write your code using pencil and paper or whiteboards and marker.
When you think your code is finished and you have tested it yourself, raise your hand to
have a teacher check it.
Hide this paper! Someone else will come and play your code. See if they play it
correctly and can guess the name of the song! While they are working on your code,
you try to figure out their code.
After you finish your song, grab a scarf and a bag of dance cards and code a dance!
