Uncertainty Avoidance

1. Do you believe that orderliness and consistency are stressed in your culture, even at the
expense of experimentation and innovation?

We are trying to avoid uncertainty and to ensure things. We are not very innovative and quite in
relation with the past. Anyway, citizens are sometimes obliged to deal with uncertainty, for example
when waiting for the bus or expecting the delivery of a package.

2. Do you believe that in your society, societal requirements and instructions are spelled out in

detail so citizens know what they are expected to do?

Power Distance

1. Is it a norm to follow the leaders without any question or you can disagree and express your
own viewpoint?

In our society, you can express your point even if you are not a leader but you need to have good
arguments and be on your right. Anyway, there are limits and you need to be respect leaders.

2. Is the power concentrated at the top or shared within the society?

The power is concentrated at the top and not diluted in an horizontal manner.

Institutional Collectivism

1. Is group loyalty preferred over individual goals in your culture?

For us, the goals are individuals and collective goals are not very commons.

2. Does the society believe in maximizing collective interests or individual interests?

Maximizing collective interest in not really important because in general the individual interest is
winning against collective interest.

In-group Collectivism

1. Are groups an integral part of the culture and daily lives?

Groups are important anyway. Family and friends are the base of an individual person and we need
them to evolve.

2. Do children take pride in individual accomplishments of their parents or they take pride about the
groups their parents are part of?

Gender Egalitarianism

1. Does the culture encourages boys more than girls to attain higher education or there are
equal opportunities for all?

Now our society is almost equal in all fields between boys and girls. Anyway, in some very rural
areas, boys are more important for the success of the family.

2. Do you feel any gender biases in your society?

Yes there is one gender bias in our society: we have a very patriarchal society, so the places of the
father in family and of the King in the society are very important.
Assertiveness

1. Do you believe the people in your culture are assertive, confrontational, and aggressive in
their relationships with others?

Yes we are assertive it is a fact. Strangers can feel that we are confrontational and aggressive but in
fact it is just the normal way to express our self.

Future Orientation

1. Is it the accepted norm to live with the status quo happily or more emphasis is paid to plan
for the future?

Status quo is ok for us and even if people are hoping for a better future they are ok with the current
situation.

Are people more oriented towards solving their current problems or take a long term view of
planning for the future?

Performance Orientation

1. Do you believe that people are rewarded only if they perform excellently in the task?

People are concerned about performance. Moreover, you will be rewarded only if you are doing
excellent or good. A failure, even if the try was good, will not be rewarded.

Does the society pay a lot of emphasis on students to strive for continuous Improvement in
performance?

Humane Orientation

1. Are the people in the society very concerned about others or do not care about others?
1. Are the people sensitive to others?

People are caring a lot about other people. People are helping other in needs as possible as they can.
In Morocco, you will not find homeless people and that is a sign that people are sensitive to other.

Monochronic vs Polychronic

1. Does the society believe in tightly adhering to the plan or are flexible to accommodate
changes?

We are very very flexible. This is because with the organisation of our society, you need to be
prepared to all kind of changes and it is difficult to plan something from A to Z.

High Context vs Low Context

1. Do people usually spell things out quickly and directly or engage in talking around and
adding to the point?

I would say that it is medium but a little more direct. I think also that it depends on the the
relationship that you have with the person and of the interest that you have.

1. Do peoplefocus on getting job done first and socialize afterward rather than socialize first
and then tackle the job?

Getting the job done because socializing is not really important.


How do people reason? Do they believe in cause and effect relationships or bring in historical
references also?

1. Is social organization horizontal or hierarchical?

Social organisation is in between. You can find hierarchy with the figure of the King but also
horizontal because everyone is allowed to say its point of view.

Direct.

Neutral vs affective

1. How does the society generally perceive displaying emotion or anger while at work? Is it
considered bad or normal?

It is allowed to show emotions at work but anyway it is better to keep things for yourself.

Specific vs diffuse

1. Do people keep personal and work separate or there are overlaps?

There are definitely overlaps and the work is really connected with personal things.

Inner directed vs outer directed

1. Do people believe that they can control their environment to achieve their goals or they
believe that external environment controls what happens to them?

We are outer directed. It means that we External forces control what happen to people. A lot of
things are already determined by god for example.

Do rules come before friendships/relationships?

Language of space

1. Are people protective about their personal space or they believe in sharing the space
irrespective of the hierarchy?

People are really sharing the space, and there is nothing like a lot of personal space needed for
people.

Language of things

1. Do people boast about the gadgets and properties they possess or they avoid bringing these
into discussions?

Now material is more important than before. In the past, people were hiding their money but now
people are very happy to display their wealth.

Language of agreements

1. Are the business agreements very detailed and strictly followed or they are flexible and can
be changed with the business environment?

As said before, you need to be flexible even in the business environment.


1. How does the culture view environment? Do humans dominate nature or does nature
dominate humans?

We think that human dominates nature, even if we have a lot of respect for nature.

How does the culture view human role in the world? Is doing important (working hard and achieving
more) or being important (more relationship orientation)?

1. What do you believe is the basic human nature – are people inherently good irrespective of
their religion or geography?

Yes, we believed that people are good everywhere and I think that it is linked to our Muslim religion.

Do you believe that indebtness is a burden and need to be repaid or it is normal in a relationship?

Is the culture extremely formal and extensively uses titles to address people?

Does knowing come from concepts or experiences?

Is luck an essential factor or an irrelevance? Does the culture believe in existence of divine powers?

Are rules to be followed or bent?
