Comments:
Ms. Daney developed a lesson plan to enable 9th grade students to make a good choice in choosing books for Reader’s
Workshop for an English class. Her very comprehensive plan outlined a clearly stated objective with appropriate AASL
and PA Common Core Standards that addressed an effective assessment. Ms. Daney made good use of technology and
print resources as she displayed the Emmaus High School Webpage with access to the library media catalog. She had
full knowledge of the titles that she selected. She created an exit ticket that measurably assessed the student
attainment of her objective. Her plan addressed learners of all styles with differentiation. She was well-prepared
and presented a detailed plan.

Comments:
Ms. Daney demonstrated expectations of student achievement with discussion, instructions, and her exit ticket.
Equitable learning opportunites were evident as she conducted her lesson and spent the remaining time working with
students to direct them to appropriate titles. Interactions were polite and respectful. Classroom management was in
place as she called for attention and gave directions for expected behaviors. Routines were in place. Ms. Daney is
working well to establish good rapport with her students as they recognize her authority and are comfortable in seeking
her assistance.

Comments:
Ms. Daney opened her lesson with the Emmaus HS webpage projected on the screen. She stated the objected and
continued with a demonstration of how to navigate to 3 points of access to finding books. She outlined Staff picks,
summaries and call numbers to locate titles. She continued to demonstrate search methods in the online catalog and
pointed out the book selections on the cart. She called on students to suggest a title search to reinforce the search
methods. She then added the feature of locating titles by genre through the Copy Category feature. She proceeded to
direct students to the quick search station computer. A resources handout to assist students in choices was distributed.
She reviewed the checkout procedure ensuring students had a good background in selecting and checking out their
books. As she skillfully presented her book talks she gained attention and interest as she built on various titles.
Students posed questions and comments. Her selections and method of presentation were of great interest to the
students. She then distributed and explained her exit ticket to measure student achievement of her objective. As she
dismissed students for book selection she circulated giving further information and suggestions for titles. Ms. Daney
has a pleasant, easy lesson delivery. Well done!

Comments:
Ms. Daney appeared and conducted herself in a professional manner. In this collaborative lesson with the 9 th grade
English teacher it was evident that Ms. Daney communicated with her to develop and deliver her lesson.

General Comments:
Ms. Daney has been experiencing the daily administrative tasks that are inherent to a very busy high school library
media center. She is progressing very well and is motivated and conscientious.

This Clinical Experience evaluation serves as a tangible basis for discussion among the cooperating teacher, the KU supervisor and teacher candidate.
