To Whom It May Concern:

Molly Hughes was my student during her 10 week psychiatric/mental health nursing clinical
rotation last semester. As a clinical instructor/lecturer with fifty years experience in various
psych nursing areas, I have a unique opportunity to become acquainted with my students as
individuals. Since they're learning to use their own personalities as a therapeutic tool, I try to
help them get to know themselves more in depth and as members of a team on our four unit
inpatient facility. During our psych rotation, they also experience working with older adults,
pediatric therapy services, and intensive adult outpatient services. My goal for them is to
practice interpersonal relationship skills that can be generalized and applied to any nursing
endeavor they choose.

Please accept my apologies for the fact that this is a belated letter of recommendation. I was
remiss in not helping Molly meet her application deadline. Molly Hughes is an extremely
conscientious and responsible person and RN-to-be - one whom you will want to interview in the
near future! Just review her resume again. Yes, Molly looks really good on paper, but when you
meet her, you will appreciate the unique personal qualities she brings to the table - intelligence,
poise, and maturity. You add this to her almost 3.50 GPA, Dean's List with Distinction,
Chemistry preceptor, pharmacy tech trainee, and two year nursing internship with Sinfonia, and
you have a candidate who is ready right now to "hit the ground running".

Now the usual (but true) description of the strengths and attributes that Molly will bring to your
organization: 1) a broad and in depth nursing knowledge base; 2) highly developed
technical/technology abilities; 3) excellent verbal/written communication skills and finally; 4) an
appreciation of the value of the continued application of evidenced-based nursing practice

Our graduates of the University of Arizona College of Nursing - one of the better colleges in the
nation - are sought after by hospitals as far flung as the Cleveland Clinic and as nearby as
UCLA. Why? Because our reputation of producing excellent nurses - particularly in acute care
- precedes us. If you wish, you can have access to Molly's College of Nursing skills lists and
Typhon approval lists. Just know that Molly's represents our best and brightest - and, with her
natural leadership skills, will be the face of quality nursing of the future.

Sincerely,

Susan Markovich, RN, MSN

Clinical Instructor

P.S. Thank you for hiring our recent grads. They love working at Mayo/Scottsdale --
considered a plum job!
