Synchronous motor and magnetic levitation both applied form of an important term
magnetic levitation and magnetic locking. Here relations of magnetic locking with magnetic
levitation train and synchronous motor has been described and for this purpose the working
principle of magnetic levitating train and synchronous motor also been discussed briefly.
● Driving without wheels, flying without wings. That is it does not have any connection
with road or line.
● It is energized with electricity and requires less energy
● It has highest speed and lowest noise.
How maglav train works:
Levitation: The superconducting magnets ( levitation coils )on the both side of The passing of
the tract carries a current in the coils and creates a magnetic field. This pushes the train upward so that
it can levitate 10 cm above the track.
Fig.: levitation system. The “8” shaped coils are levitation coils.
Transporting system: The coils located on the sidewalls on both sides of the guideway are
energized by a three-phase alternating current and creating a shifting magnetic field on the guideway.
The superconducting magnets attracted on the train are pushed by the shifting field; they pull the
Maglev vehicle toward its destination.
1. Stator: The statistic part, made of ferromagnetic winding and connected with three phase
voltage supply.
2. Rotor: The rotating part, made of ferromagnetic winding, placed inside the stator and connected
with a dc supply .
When stator is supplied with three phase supply rotating magnetic flux generated and the rotor (placed
inside the stator) tends to rotates in the same speed of the stator field.
Such, both of them rotate in same speed.
Comparison:
For maglev train magnetic locking occurs when the magnetic field on the guideway starts
changing its direction and makes the conductor attached on the train moving in speed and direction.
This magnetic locking occurs a large number of poles ( in fact all of the conductors attached on the
guideway are involved in this process). And this magnetic locking causes a linear velocity toward a fixed
destiny.
But for synchronous motor, magnetic locking occurs when stator`s magnetic field starts rotating
in a given frequency ( the frequency of the supplied three phase system) an makes the rotor rotating.
This process occurs among some limited pole on stator and it causes rotation not any linear velocity.
Conclusion:
Through these two type electrical elements a lots of difference, their working principle is based
on an unique which is magnetic locking and these two are an important application of magnetic locking.
