John Wesley (24th) the greatest of all English evangelists, in 18th century
travelled far and wide to bring good news to people in Britain's new
industrial towns and deep rural areas like the Dales. He spoke of God's
truth and grace. His love and forgiveness, as he sought to spread
Scriptural Holiness throughout the land. He established Methodist
congregations which now share with Anglicans, Roman Catholics and
others a common Gospel and care for all in need. Good News indeed.

From "Follow me." to "Come and see.": living and sharing the
Christian faith.
We know that Jesus calls us to share our faith and bring others to know
him, but how do we start? A short 5-session course called "From "follow
me" to "come and see." looks at some of the words of Jesus himself,
considers what that means for us as followers of Jesus, and then how
these words can help us to bring others to come and see Jesus for
themselves. The course follows the form of a book club in that you will need
to read a chapter of the course book before each session.
Booking is essential as materials need to be ordered. The group will meet
at 9am in Lizzy's Tea Rooms at The Staveley Arms on Thursday mornings
and sessions will last for just over an hour. You will need to buy a tea or
coffee, but breakfast is also available if you are hungry!
Dates: Thursdays at 9am on May 17th & 24th, June 7th, 21st & 28th
The course costs £10 in total (to cover the cost of materials including a
book) and this can be paid at the first session. Please book with Revd Nick
Morgan by emailing revnjmorgan@gmail.com or calling 01765 635039 /

Hope Community Garden The new season is well and truly under way
now, and we are looking for more volunteers to join the regular work party
on the first Saturday of every month, maintaining and developing the
garden. If you are interested in what it’s all about, or would like to take part
in some way, Jim Hunter is the man to talk to – he can be contacted at the
number below. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the weather will have
warmed up. Don’t forget the garden has benches – a good place to meet
up with a friend on a nice sunny afternoon and watch the world go by. Or if
you fancy something a bit more energetic, how about helping out by doing
a bit of weeding?

Wednesday Welcome Centre
Open every Wednesday, 12.30-3.30pm at Masham Methodist Church
Have you visited the Wednesday Welcome Centre yet? We offer a simple
café serving soup, rolls, cakes and hot drinks, and a variety of activities
from dominoes to crafts, and singalongs to darts. Our main objective is to
provide good company, good conversation and plenty of laughter, and we
would love people to be talking about us so that those who would most
benefit from what we have to offer will know it is a good place to be.
Most months there is something to celebrate. This month we have a
double whammy – not only the Royal Wedding, but also our first
anniversary.
We are open to everyone, but offer additional information and support for
people living with dementia through our contacts with Dementia Support,
Carers Resource, Red Cross and others.
If you would like more information about the centre, or would like to
volunteer, please contact Joy Rayden on (01765) 689310.
