Celiac Disease is a long-term digestive disease in which patients have
inflammation of the small intestine, which causes difficulty with absorbing nutrients. Relatives with the condition are therefore susceptible to this disease. Inflammation in the bowel occurs when a patient begins to eat food that contains gluten. Females are most likely to be diagnosed unlike males. Individuals with gastro diseases or Celiac Disease inherited, are at greater risks for developing CD. The symptoms includes abdominal pains, bloating and gas, diarrhea, stools that may float, weight loss, poor growth & anemia. All tests for celiac disease, except for genetic tests, must be done. Medications are not normally required except in occasional patients who do not respond to a gluten free diet. Once a diagnosis of CD is established, individuals need to remain on the gluten free diet for the rest of their lives. Although adapting might be difficult at first only.
